Dear patient, please read the entire package leaflet carefully before you start taking this medicine, as it contains important information for you. This medicine is also available without a doctor's prescription. However, in order to achieve the best possible treatment success, Weleda Hustenelixier must be used as prescribed.

1. WHAT IS WELEDA HUSTENELIXIER AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Weleda Hustenelixier is an anthroposophic medicinal product for respiratory diseases. Areas of application: According to anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature, the areas of application include acute catarrhal inflammations of the respiratory tract; to promote the coughing up of viscous mucus and to relieve the coughing stimulus.

2. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO CONSIDER BEFORE TAKING WELEDA HUSTENELIXIER?

Weleda Hustenelixier must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to anise, anethole, thyme or other Lamiaceae (Labiatae), birch, mugwort, celery or any of the other ingredients.

Diabetics

Due to its sugar content, Weleda Hustenelixier is not suitable for diabetics.

Children

Weleda Hustenelixier should not be used in infants in the first year of life, as there is insufficient documented experience.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Weleda Hustenelixier should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding because of the component Solanum dulcamara (bittersweet stem), and since there is insufficient documented experience.

Precautions for use

If symptoms persist, if you have shortness of breath, fever or purulent sputum, a doctor should be consulted.

Interactions with other medicines

None known. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines.

Important information about certain ingredients of Weleda Hustenelixier

This medicine contains sucrose. Please only take Weleda Hustenelixier after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from an intolerance to certain sugars.

3. HOW TO TAKE WELEDA HUSTENELIXIER?

Always take Weleda Hustenelixier exactly as described in this package leaflet. Use the enclosed measuring cup for dosing. Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is:
  • Children from 6 years of age and adults take 5 ml Weleda Hustenelixier every 3 hours,
  • Toddlers from 1 to 5 years of age receive 1.25 to 2.5 ml Weleda Hustenelixier 3 times a day.
It is best to take the elixir in warm tea. After removing the elixir, clean the bottle thread so that the cap does not stick due to crystallized sugar.

Duration of use

The treatment should be completed after 2 weeks. If there is no improvement within 2-5 days, a doctor should be consulted. The duration of treatment for chronic diseases requires consultation with a doctor.

If you forget to take Weleda Hustenelixier

Do not take a double dose if you have forgotten to take the previous dose.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, Weleda Hustenelixier can have side effects, although not everybody gets them. Very rarely, hypersensitivity reactions may occur in the skin, respiratory tract or gastrointestinal tract.

5. WHAT ELSE IS IMPORTANT?

Do not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label and the folding box. Storage conditions: Store Weleda Hustenelixier in the refrigerator at 2 - 8°C after first opening the bottle. The syrup can then be kept for 2 weeks after opening.

Composition

100 g (= 76 ml) contain: Active ingredients: 5 g aqueous extract from 0.6 g Althaeae radix / 30 g aqueous decoction from: 0.15 g Solanum dulcamara, Stipites sicc.; 0.35 g Marrubium vulgare, Herba sicc.; 0.5 g Anisi fructus; 0.35 g Serpylli herba; 2.85 g Thymi herba / Drosera Dil. D2 [D2 with Ethanol 30% (m/m)] 0.1 g / Extractum Malti 5 g / Ipecacuanha, ethanol. Decoctum Ø (= D1) 0.1 g / Pulsatilla vulgaris Dil. D3 [D2 with Ethanol 43% (m/m), D3 with Ethanol 30 % (m/m)] 0.01 g. Other ingredient: Sucrose (saccharose).
