100% Primitivo from old vines
As the star among the Italians, the Primitivo shines brightly and currently. Also known as Zinfandel from California, the Renato made from 100% Primitivo already shows itself to be quite "prima" in the glass, with its powerful and deep red color. Older than the vineyards, Renato is now also – co-founder of Cantina Sampietrana and today its oldest member. He is still actively involved in the 50-year-old vineyards.

Dark forest berries are harmoniously reflected in both the nose and the taste. Soft, elegant and full-bodied on the palate, aromas such as cinnamon, cloves and black pepper open up to complete the taste experience. Goes well with hearty dishes such as game or beef.

Cantina Sampietrana was founded in 1952. The winegrowers were ahead of their time back then, because they recognized the advantages of a joint winery, but did not want to be affiliated with a huge cooperative. Thus, a small cooperative with 30 winegrowers developed, who are very attached to tradition and yet work in a modern way. The shared vision drove the winery forward: the creation of high-quality wines with their own label, which show Apulia's strengths from their best side. The vineyards, in which the Primitivo, Negroamaro and Malvasia grape varieties have been at home for centuries, stretch between the triangle of cities Lecce-Brindisi-Taranto.
