In the picturesque village of Kinderdijk in South Holland, amidst the world-famous windmills, is Biokaas Kinderdijk, a small cheese dairy. Their cheeses are made from pasteurized milk and vegetarian rennet. Decades ago, the Van den Haspel family started a cattle farm at the current location. In addition to the agricultural activities, Mrs. Annigje van den Haspel (1916-2015) produced artisanal cheese here until old age.
The barn consists of a cubicle house in the inner part and a paddock in the outer part. In both barns, the animals can roam freely and eat and drink as they please.
The Haspels have been committed to organic principles since their foundation decades ago, long before organic became so popular.
