These sardines improve with age. This tin is therefore very good in its first year and gets even better in the years that follow. The sardines become softer over time and caramelize in their oil. However, we recommend enjoying them within 10 years.

Selected with the greatest care and prepared from fresh fish, these sardines are cleaned by hand, dried and browned in vegetable oil according to the traditional method.

There are many good brands of sardines in France, but the best come from Rödel & Fils Frères, the first canned sardine factory in France. Founded in 1824 by Charles Désiré Rödel, a student of Nicolas Appert, a pioneer in food preservation. Today, Rödel offers a wide range of sardines, mackerel, tuna, seafood, vegetables and delicatessen products of the highest quality. The sardines mature in oil, and their quality is based on excellent fishing and many years of experience. The vintage sardines are caught in Brittany, while other varieties come from Brittany or the Atlantic.
