With around 62 percent, free range farming is the most commonly used farming method in Germany. It is characterized above all by the fact that the animals can move freely in the barn at all times and are allowed to use the entire space for themselves.
This is also due to the fact that in the barns at Landkost there are different levels with perches and additional running areas.

What is often not known at all: In free range farming, a lot is done to ensure that the hens can follow their natural behaviour. To make this possible, there are, for example, protected laying nests available in the barns for laying eggs. In addition, at least one third of the barn area may be used by the hens for scratching.
