Composition / active ingredient

100 g solution contain: 63.1 g 2-propanol
Other ingredient: purified water

Dosage form and content

100 ml and 200 ml solution

Disinfectant.

Hygienic and surgical hand disinfection, skin disinfection before simple injections and punctures of peripheral vessels, skin disinfection before operations and before punctures of joints. Disinfection of sebaceous skin; cold compresses.

Contraindications

Isopropyl alcohol 70% (V/V) (= 2-propanol 70% (V/V)) is not suitable for the disinfection of open wounds

Interactions with other agents

None known.

Warnings

Highly flammable! Keep away from sources of ignition! In the event of spillage of the solution, measures against fire and explosion must be taken immediately. Suitable measures include, for example, absorbing the spilled liquid and diluting it with water, ventilating the room and eliminating sources of ignition.

Dosage and method of administration

For hygienic hand disinfection, rub the hands with the solution and keep them moist for 30 seconds. For surgical hand disinfection, rub the hands and forearms with the solution and keep them moist for 5 minutes. For disinfection before simple injections and punctures of peripheral vessels, rub the skin thoroughly with the solution and keep it moist for 15 seconds. For disinfection before operations and before punctures of joints, rub the skin thoroughly with the solution and keep it moist for 1 minute. For disinfection of sebaceous skin, rub the skin thoroughly with the solution and keep it moist for 10 minutes. For cold compresses, the solution should be used diluted with equal parts water.

Notes

The times given are minimum times. Depending on additional difficulties (e.g. moist skin, contamination of the skin, risk of the procedure), the exposure times should be extended. Isopropyl alcohol 70% (V/V) (= 2-propanol 70% (V/V)) is not sporicidal and is therefore not suitable for the storage of sterile instruments and syringes. If you have any further questions about the application, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Side effects

When rubbing the skin with Isopropyl alcohol 70% (V/V) (= 2-propanol 70% (V/V)), redness and slight burning may occur. If you observe any side effects that are not listed in this leaflet, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.

Notes

Store tightly closed. Keep medicines out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
