Active ingredient: Zinc oxide

1. WHAT IS ZINKOXIDSALBE LAW AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Zinkoxidsalbe LAW is a skin protectant. Zinc oxide provides covering protection and binds secretions in acute and subacute dermatoses.

2. WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BEFORE USING ZINKOXIDSALBE LAW?

Zinkoxidsalbe LAW must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to zinc or any of the other ingredients of Zinkoxidsalbe LAW. When used on large areas of skin, no more than 20% of the body surface should be treated.

Special care when using Zinkoxidsalbe LAW

Use of condoms: When using Zinkoxidsalbe LAW in the genital and anal area, the excipients petroleum jelly and paraffin can reduce the tear resistance of latex condoms and thus impair the safety of condoms.

When using Zinkoxidsalbe LAW with other medicines

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using or have recently taken/used any other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines. Zinkoxidsalbe LAW must not be used at the same time as other topical agents on the same area of skin or must be completely removed before using them, as other drugs can form ineffective compounds with zinc oxide.

When using Zinkoxidsalbe LAW with food and drink

No interactions known.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Pregnancy: Zinc oxide can be used during pregnancy if used as directed and the dosage instructions are followed. However, large-area application should be avoided.
Breast-feeding: Zinc oxide can be used during breast-feeding if used as directed and the dosage instructions are followed. However, large-area application on the breast should be avoided in breast-feeding women.

Driving and operating machinery

No special precautions are required.

3. HOW TO USE ZINKOXIDSALBE LAW?

Always use Zinkoxidsalbe LAW exactly as described in this package leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Zinkoxidsalbe LAW is applied to the affected areas of skin once to several times a day and covered with gauze if necessary.

The duration of treatment is unlimited and depends on the course of healing.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, Zinkoxidsalbe LAW can have side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following categories are used as the basis for the frequency of side effects

A slight burning sensation may occur after application to severely inflamed areas of skin. Occasionally, skin redness, dryness, rough skin and acanthotic skin changes (thickening of the skin) may occur, which may lead to discontinuation of therapy.

5. HOW TO STORE ZINKOXIDSALBE LAW?

Keep out of reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the folding box and tube.

Storage conditions

Do not store above 30°C.

Note on shelf life after opening

Zinkoxidsalbe LAW can be stored until the expiry date stated on the tube after first opening.

What Zinkoxidsalbe LAW contains

The active ingredient is: Zinc oxide. 100 g of ointment contain 10 g of zinc oxide. The other ingredients are: white petroleum jelly, liquid paraffin, glycerol monostearate 40-55%, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.).
