1. WHAT IS ANTIHYDRAL AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Antihydral is an ointment for application to the skin and is used for heavy sweating, especially of the feet, hands and armpits.

2. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE USING ANTIHYDRAL?

Antihydral must not be used:

• if you are hypersensitive to formaldehyde or any of the other ingredients of Antihydral.
• on weeping or blistered skin.
• on the face.

When using Antihydral with other medicines

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using or have recently taken/used any other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines. No interactions have been reported to date.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Due to insufficient studies, you should not use the medicine during pregnancy. Do not use Antihydral on the nursing breast during breast-feeding.

Driving and using machines

No special precautions are required.

3. HOW TO USE ANTIHYDRAL?

Always use Antihydral exactly as described in this package leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Apply Antihydral thinly to the affected areas of skin 1 - 2 times a day and allow the paste to dry. After a few days, sweating usually decreases and Antihydral can then be used individually at longer intervals. If the skin becomes too dry and brittle during treatment, a fatty ointment should be applied temporarily. The skin can be cleaned with water before each new application of Antihydral. The duration of use is determined by the treating physician. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of this medicine is too strong or too weak.

If you have used more Antihydral than you should

No signs of poisoning have been reported to date and are not to be expected. In the event of an overdose, side effects may be increased. If you notice any side effects that affect you significantly or that are not included in this leaflet, please contact your doctor immediately so that they can take the necessary measures without delay.

What to do if you have used too little Antihydral or have forgotten to use it?
Do not use double the dose the next time, but continue using it as prescribed by your doctor or as described in this package leaflet.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, Antihydral can have side effects.

The following categories are used as a basis for the frequency of side effects:
Very common:	more than 1 in 10 treated persons
Common:	1 to 10 in 100 treated persons
Uncommon:	1 to 10 in 1,000 treated persons
Rare:	1 to 10 in 10,000 treated persons
Very rare:	less than 1 in 10,000 treated persons
Not known:	frequency cannot be estimated from the available data.

Methenamine can rarely cause irritation or hypersensitivity reactions of the skin when applied externally. Eczema or rashes may occur in people with a formaldehyde contact allergy.

Reporting of side effects

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects not listed in this package leaflet. You can also report side effects directly to the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices, Pharmacovigilance Department, Kurt-Georg-Kiesinger-Allee 3, D-53175 Bonn, website: www.bfarm.de. By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information about the safety of this medicine.

5. HOW TO STORE ANTIHYDRAL?

Keep medicines out of the reach of children. Close the tube tightly after use so that the contents of the tube do not dry out. The expiry date of this pack is printed on the outside of the folding box and on the fold of the tube. Please do not use the pack after this date. Antihydral can be stored until the printed expiry date after opening.

What Antihydral contains

Antihydral contains the active ingredient methenamine in a fat-free, drying ointment base. 100 g of ointment contain 13 g of methenamine. The other ingredients are talc, purified water, zinc oxide, white clay, glycerol, carmellose sodium, colour E 172, flavouring.

What Antihydral looks like and contents of the pack

Antihydral is a skin-coloured ointment and is available in packs of 25 g and 70 g of ointment.
