Read the entire package leaflet carefully because it contains important information for you. This medicine is available without a prescription. However, Arhama-Terno must be used properly to ensure the best possible treatment success.

1. WHAT IS THIS MEDICINE AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Zinkpaste BW is a wound healing agent/skin protection agent. This paste is used to cover or protect healthy skin and to bind secretions in weeping acute and subacute dermatoses (skin diseases).

2. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE?

2.1 This medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to zinc oxide or any other ingredient of Zinkpaste BW.

2.2 Special care must be taken when using this medicine if the symptoms described in section 1 worsen. In this case, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

2.3 When using this medicine with other medicines

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines. Before using other medicines for external use (externals), Zinkpaste BW must be removed completely, as otherwise the effect of other medicines that are also to be applied externally may be reduced. Note: To remove old paste residues from the skin, they are dissolved with a fatty oil (e.g. peanut or olive oil) and carefully wiped off with gauze.

2.4 Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Zinkpaste BW can be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding if used as directed and the dosage instructions are followed. However, large-area application should be avoided in pregnant women and large-area application to the breast in breastfeeding women. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using any medicine.

2.5 Driving and using machines

There is no experience with regard to impairment of driving ability and the ability to operate machines.

3. HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE?

Always use Zinkpaste BW exactly as described in this package leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

3.1 Dosage and method of administration

Unless otherwise prescribed, Zinkpaste BW is applied to the affected skin areas once or several times a day. The zinc oxide contained in Zinkpaste BW can adhere to laundry and is then difficult to remove. Therefore, cover the skin area treated with the paste with a gauze compress, a plaster or a bandage.

3.2 Duration of use

The duration of use is in principle not limited. However, please note the information under 2.1 and 2.2. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Zinkpaste BW is too strong or too weak.

3.3 If you have used more of the medicine than you should and experience discomfort due to the higher dose, please notify your doctor. He/she can decide on any necessary measures. The side effect listed under side effects may occur more frequently.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, Zinkpaste BW can have side effects, although not everybody gets them.

4.1 Possible side effects

A slight burning sensation may occur after applying Zinkpaste BW to severely inflamed skin areas.

4.2 Reporting of side effects

If you notice any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects not listed in this package leaflet. You can also report side effects directly to the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices, Dept. of Pharmacovigilance, Kurt-Georg-Kiesinger Allee 3, D-53175 Bonn, website: www.bfarm.de. By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information about the safety of this medicine.

5. HOW TO STORE THIS MEDICINE?

5.1 General information

Keep medicines out of the reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the container and the outer carton after "Use by". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.

5.2 Storage conditions

Do not store above 25°C. Store in the original container tightly closed.

5.3 Note on shelf life after opening

After opening, Zinkpaste BW must be used within 6 months.

6. FURTHER INFORMATION

6.1 What this medicine contains

100 g paste contains the active ingredient: 30 g zinc oxide. The other ingredient is: yellow petroleum jelly.

6.2 What the medicine looks like and contents of the pack

Zinkpaste BW is available in the following pack size: 100 g paste in a screw-top jar with outer carton.
