Artelac Lipids EDO

It is an ideal product for particularly long-lasting relief of dry eyes caused by chronic disorders of the tear film. Due to its composition, the eye drops supplement all three layers of the tear film, including the outer lipid layer. They cover the tear film with a highly viscous drop that remains on the surface of the eye and keeps it moist. It moisturises and soothes the eyes and provides long-lasting relief from the symptoms of chronic tear film disorders, such as burning, tired and/or watery eyes.

• Artelac Lipids EDO supplements all three layers of the tear film. It contains sterile water for moistening, carbomer for binding the moisture to the surface of the eye and triglycerides to support the lipid layer of the tear film, which locks in the moisture.

Intended use of Artelac Lipids EDO

Artelac Lipids EDO is an eye moisturiser.

Composition

Artelac Lipids EDO contains 2 mg carbomer, medium-chain triglycerides (lipids) and sterile water. It also contains sorbitol, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate and sodium hydroxide. Artelac Lipids EDO is free from preservatives.

Pack sizes

Artelac Lipids EDO is available in pack sizes of 10, 30, 60 or 120 (2 x 60) single-dose ophtioles with 0.6 g of eye gel drops. The product is also available in preserved eye drop bottles.

Application of Artelac Lipids EDO

Artelac Lipids EDO is ideal for soothing and relieving persistent symptoms of dry eye, which are due to a chronic lack of tear fluid. Treatment of dry eye requires individual therapy depending on the severity and intensity of the symptoms. Instil one drop of Artelac Lipids EDO into the eye 3 to 5 times a day or more often if required. It is advisable to wash your hands before using Artelac Lipids EDO.

1. Take hold of a single-dose ophtiole at the end with the label and detach it from the strip.
2. Hold the single-dose ophtiole at the end with the label with the sealing cap facing downwards and tap it gently until all of the eye gel is in the neck of the single-dose ophtiole.
3. Unscrew the sealing cap of the single-dose ophtiole (do not pull).
4. Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down gently with a finger of your free hand. Hold the single-dose ophtiole vertically over the open eye with the opening facing downwards as far as possible. Avoid touching the opening of the single-dose ophtiole with your eyes or fingers to prevent possible injury or damage to the eyes. Gently squeeze the single-dose ophtiole to release one drop into the eye. Then close your eye, move it gently from right to left and blink to spread the drop evenly over the surface of the eye.

Contraindications

Do not use the product if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

Precautions:

• If hypersensitivity reactions (irritation or intolerance) occur, please discontinue use of Artelac Lipids EDO.
• If you experience a persistent, unpleasant sensation or irritation, discontinue use of the product and consult your doctor.
• Safety note for patients with severe corneal damage: In very rare cases, deposits of calcium phosphate on the cornea have been reported during treatment with phosphate-containing eye products.
• Do not touch the dropper tip of the EDO with your fingers to prevent possible contamination of the liquid or possible damage.
• If you are using several eye preparations, wait approximately 15 minutes before using another preparation.
• Contact lenses should be removed before using the eye gel. They can be reinserted after an interval of at least 15 minutes.
• Blurred vision may occur briefly immediately after instillation. Avoid operating vehicles or machinery during this time.
• Do not use Artelac Lipids EDO after the expiry date.
• Each single-dose ophtiole is for single use only.
• Check the ophtiole for possible damage before first use. Do not use damaged ophtioles.

Storage

Store the medical device at max. 25°C and protect it from light.
