Château de Lamarque – A masterpiece from the oldest Château in the Médoc

Château de Lamarque is an exceptional Bordeaux wine from the oldest Château in the Haut-Médoc, a historic estate in Bordeaux. The family has been cultivating wine on this estate since the 15th century, which originally served as a fortress against the Vikings in the 11th century. Under the expert guidance of renowned oenologist Eric Boissenot, wines with a strong character are created here, which stand out due to their fine vanilla notes and elegant structure.

Unique terroir and diversity of grape varieties

The Château extends over three vineyards, whose plots grow on the typical gravelly soils of the Médoc. The diversity of grape varieties – Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and the characteristic Petit Verdot – combined with gravel, clay and limestone soils as well as the warm microclimate of the region, give the wines of Château de Lamarque an extraordinary complexity and elegance.

Innovative ageing in cement tanks

A special feature of Château de Lamarque is the ageing in cement tanks, which are regularly ventilated. Around 15% of the wine evaporates during this process, which intensifies the concentration of the aromas. This is followed by 12 to 14 months of storage in French oak barrels to give the wine additional depth and structure.

Tasting notes

In the glass, Château de Lamarque sparkles in a deep ruby red, with violet reflections. The nose reveals intense aromas of dark cherries, blackberries, wild raspberries and blackcurrants. On the palate, a harmonious combination of juicy fruits dominates, accompanied by mandarin peel, spicy notes, dark chocolate and a delicate vanilla sweetness. The strong tannins ensure a long-lasting, elegant finish.

Ideal with fine food

Château de Lamarque is not only a pleasure as a solo wine, but also a perfect accompaniment to stews, grilled steak, entrecôte and lamb chops. It also harmonises well with spicy Asian dishes or hearty pasta with mushrooms and truffles. The wine develops its full potential after a few years of storage in the cellar and impresses with its depth and complexity.
