Floral filter coffee with a light black tea note

The tea-like, floral and citrus-like profile of washed coffees from Ethiopia is one of the classic profiles of Specialty Coffee that we love so much. The Tabe Burka has particularly pronounced floral notes and a special sweetness reminiscent of ripe lemons. As is common in most regions of Ethiopia, the coffee plants grow in forest gardens, where they are embedded in a dynamic and vibrant nature.

The so-called Enset trees (ornamental bananas) play a special role. In addition to their nutrient content, they ensure better watering of the soil and provide the coffee plants with shade and moisture. The latter property in particular promotes the resistance of the coffee plants to drier periods. The mix of an intact ecosystem and the special variety mix in the Guji region gives us this special coffee!

In addition to aromatic coffee creations, the young coffee roastery from Frankfurt am Main impresses with three cafés in Frankfurt. The coffee is roasted on the in-house Giesen W30A roaster, built in 2019, on the other side of the Main, in Sachsenhausen.

The declared goal of roasting is to bring out the taste terroir of the highest quality green coffees from all over the world in the best possible way. A good coffee begins long before it lands in the Hoppenworth & Ploch roastery, because the taste and quality are sustainably influenced by the cultivation and harvesting of the coffee beans. In this way, they continue the dedicated work that has already been done and bring the aromas of various coffee varieties into the cup.

That's why they only buy from established green coffee traders with direct contact to the coffee farmers who offer the qualities they are looking for. They also do not buy anonymized green coffees, where insight into local events is impossible.
