Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Pregnancy
Aciclovir AL Cream should only be used during pregnancy after careful consideration of the benefits and risks. Therefore, please talk to a doctor before using Aciclovir AL Cream.
Breast-feeding
Aciclovir is hardly absorbed by the body after external application to healthy skin. The dose that a child would absorb through breast-feeding after application of Aciclovir AL Cream to the mother is therefore low. If Aciclovir AL Cream is used during breast-feeding, contact between the breast-fed child and the treated areas of the body should be avoided.
Driving and using machines
So far, no effects on the ability to drive and use machines have become known.
Aciclovir AL Cream contains cetyl alcohol and propylene glycol. Cetyl alcohol can cause local skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis). Propylene glycol can cause skin irritation.
3. HOW TO USE ACICLOVIR AL CREAM?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the recommended dose is: The cream is applied thinly to the infected skin areas 5 times a day every 4 hours during the day.
Type of application
Aciclovir AL Cream should be applied using a cotton swab by coating it with the amount necessary for the size of the infected skin areas. When applying, care should be taken to ensure that not only the already visible signs of herpes (blisters, swelling, redness) are covered with the cream, but that adjacent areas are also included in the treatment. If the cream is applied by hand, it should be washed thoroughly before and afterwards to prevent additional infection of the damaged skin areas, e.g. by bacteria or transmission of the viruses to mucous membranes and skin areas that are not yet infected.
Duration of use
The duration of treatment is generally 5 days. If the skin symptoms worsen during treatment or if the blisters have not crusted over or healed after 10 days of treatment at the latest, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted. The attending physician decides on the duration of use. Please adhere to these times even if you are already feeling better.
If you forget to use Aciclovir AL Cream
If you forget to use it once, continue using it as prescribed afterwards (e.g. do not apply the cream more often or more thickly).
If you stop using Aciclovir AL Cream
It is important to use Aciclovir AL Cream for a sufficient period of time for successful treatment.
