Delicate, balanced and complex
Rich and smooth, cool on entry, then warming across the palate. With a rounded mouthfeel and citrus freshness, the taste buds are stimulated right to the finish. The balance and complexity are unmistakable. Sweet and earthy notes combine with delicate floral and herbal notes. Each sip of the gin reveals deeper layers and more complex combinations of delicate flavours.
The Botanist is a gin of layered complexity, a progressive exploration of the botanical heritage of the Isle of Islay. 22 hand-foraged local botanicals amplify the nine berries, barks, seeds and peels during a slow distillation. The first Islay Dry Gin is an expression of the founders' heart and soul for their remote Scottish island home.

When distilling The Botanist, more than just a drink has been created. The Botanist is a representation of the place the founders come from - Isley, a picturesque island on the west coast of Scotland. Distilling is a way of life, and for Adam Hannett (Head Distiller) it is a way of communicating with the world. The art of distilling is used here to create a connection to the land, his home. This is how this wonderful gin was created, which represents the essence of Islay.
The Botanist is produced at the Bruichladdich Distillery on the shores of Loch Indaal on the Isle of Islay. The distillery has been an integral part of the Bruichladdich community since it was founded in 1881. Bruichladdich, which is home to three single malts along with The Botanist, is located on the Rhinns of Islay in the west of the island.
As a home distillery, the founders of The Botanist work to reduce the environmental impact of their gin production and to become more environmentally conscious in their actions. They want to ensure that their impact is positive and that the distillery is left in a better condition for future generations than when they found it. Only with this holistic approach can the quality of life of our planet and its people be improved.
