A great Primitivo, which was produced with great attention to detail: 30% of the grapes were cut before the harvest in the Appassimento style, so that they could dry on the vine. This method, in combination with the low yield of only 5000 kg per hectare, results in berries with incredible extract richness. Only in a second pass were the grapes selectively harvested by hand. The Trefilari was then allowed to mature in barriques for eight months.

Dark and dense ruby red with violet reflections. Delicate on the nose with clear Amarena cherry, blackberry and blueberry fruit, and a hint of cloves. Very elegant, smooth and full. Goes well with beef, game and cheese. At the 2021 spring tasting, the wine received the gold medal from Mundus Vini. 

Cantina Sampietrana was founded in 1952. The winemakers were ahead of their time, because they recognized the advantages of a joint winery, but did not want to be affiliated with a huge cooperative. Thus, a small cooperative with 30 winemakers developed, who are very attached to tradition and yet work in a modern way. The shared vision advanced the winery: the creation of high-quality wines with their own label, which show Apulia's strengths from their best side. The vineyards, in which the grape varieties Primitivo, Negroamaro and Malvasia have been at home for centuries, extend between the triangle of cities Lecce-Brindisi-Taranto.
