The original Ligurian pesto without garlic, made from the best ingredients ripened under the Italian sun, delights the palate with its finely spicy and aromatic notes. The Käfer Pesto Basil was awarded 10 out of 10 points in the SZ of 1/2 August 2015 as the test winner among 9 pestos: "By far the best, because it contains the most basil - more than 50%. The rule of thumb for pestos is: the higher the proportion of basil, the better and fresher it tastes." The original Ligurian pesto contains the best extra virgin olive oil and basil, which is the basis for this unique creation. Furthermore, it contains nuts and pine nuts, which give the pesto its slightly nutty aroma. Seasoned and rounded off with sea salt, it traditionally harmonises with a wide variety of pasta dishes, but it is also a delight with vegetables. In Genoa, Liguria, it is customary to cook the pasta with a potato or beans, as the starch that forms on the pasta during cooking allows the pesto to be absorbed better.
