How to apply the NUK Nipple Shield correctly:

To find the right nipple shield size for you, ask yourself a few questions beforehand: Is the shield comfortable to wear? Does the nipple fill the cavity of the shield? Do the baby's lips completely enclose the shield? If you can answer "yes" to these questions, you have found the right size for your nipple shield and can begin using it. To ensure your baby can drink calmly until full, follow these steps:

1) Before using the nipple shield, wash your hands thoroughly and clean the breast with a damp cloth.

2) Adhesion of the NUK Nipple Shields can be improved by slightly moistening them with water or breast milk.

3) For an optimal position on the nipple, fold the contact flaps of the nipple shield back towards the tip to easily center it; then smooth the contact flaps back down, aligning them according to your desired breastfeeding position.

4) After each use, clean the breast with water to remove milk residues and prevent bacterial growth.

How to clean and store the nipple shield

Caring for your baby requires a high level of hygiene at all times. After using the nipple shield, it is best to clean it immediately with warm water and a mild washing-up liquid. Then let it dry in a hygienic environment. As a rule, you should disinfect or boil the nipple shield daily. In the NUK steam steriliser, this is done conveniently and easily within a few minutes.
