What is Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray and when is it used?
Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray is an aqueous solution for spraying into the nose. It is used to moisten and clean the nasal mucosa, also as an accompanying therapy for colds or hay fever. Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray also prevents a dry nose caused by dry air in heated or air-conditioned rooms, smoke or dust.

Why is it important to clean and moisten the nose?
Viral or bacterial infections, unfavourable climate or heating air, medication effects or high dust content in the air often lead to damage of the ciliated epithelium and to drying out of the nasal mucosa. Elderly people also often suffer from a loss of moisture in the nasal mucosa. Only an intact, i.e. permanently moist nasal mucosa can best ward off aggressors. It is therefore important to use a seawater nasal spray that moistens the nasal mucosa for a long time and thus protects it from drying out, prevents crust formation and does not hinder the ciliary epithelium in its functionality.

How does Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray work?
Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray corresponds to an isotonic saline solution, i.e. the salt content of the seawater has been reduced in it (= isotonised). But what does isotonic actually mean? Isotonic saline solution means that the physical properties of Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray correspond to the physical properties of the natural salt concentration of our cells in the nasal mucosa. The nasal mucosa is gently cleaned, but not dried out. The contained dexpanthenol also has moisturising properties and forms a wafer-thin, moisture-retaining film over the nasal mucosa, so that the nasal mucosa can regenerate naturally. The use of Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray moistens dry nasal mucosa in order to maintain its natural protective function. In the case of a cold, Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray causes the secreted mucus to liquefy and the nose to be cleaned, so that the nasal mucosa can regenerate quickly.

What is contained in Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray?
Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray is an aqueous solution isotonically adjusted with sea salt with the addition of dexpanthenol. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate and di-potassium hydrogen phosphate are used as further excipients to maintain the natural pH value. Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray contains no preservatives and no propellant gas.

How do you use Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray?
Before first use: Please remove the protective cap and press the attachment down several times until the first spray is released. Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray is now ready for further use. Depending on the need, adults and children from two years of age spray 1 - 2 sprays into each nostril several times a day. For infants and children up to two years of age, 1 spray per nostril is sufficient. For hygienic reasons, the nasal adapter should be wiped off and kept dry after use and the protective cap should be replaced. If you are using another nasal spray at the same time, you should use Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray beforehand. You can also use Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray over a longer period of time if necessary.

What else should be considered?
No precautions are necessary when using Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray. There is no indication of a special risk during pregnancy or breastfeeding if used as directed. In case of an injured nose and after operations in the nasal area, Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray should only be used after consultation with the attending physician. For hygienic reasons and to avoid the transmission of pathogens, each bottle should only be used by one person. Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray is manufactured without preservatives and is filled sterile in a container with a special application system. If the container or application system is tampered with, Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray must no longer be used, as safe use can no longer be guaranteed. You should not use Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray after the expiry date. After opening the bottle, Bepanthen Seawater Nasal Spray may not be used for longer than 6 months.
