1. WHAT ARE BRONCHICUM THYME LOZENGES AND WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR?

Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges are a traditional medicine that is registered exclusively on the basis of many years of use for the area of application. Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges are traditionally used to support mucus solution in case of coughs in the context of colds.

2. WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BEFORE USING BRONCHICUM THYME LOZENGES?

Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges must not be used if you are allergic to thyme or other Lamiaceae (lipped flowers), cineole, levomenthol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.

Warnings and precautions

In case of fever, shortness of breath, purulent or bloody sputum as well as in case of complaints that last longer than one week, a doctor should be consulted. Please consult a doctor or other qualified person in the healthcare profession if the symptoms of the illness persist or if side effects other than those mentioned in this package leaflet occur.

Children

There are no studies for children under 6 years of age. Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges should therefore not be used in this age group and because of the small dosage form.

Use of Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges together with other medicines

Interactions with other medicines have not been studied. Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. As there is insufficient research, Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges should not be used by pregnant and breast-feeding women.

Driving and using machines

No special precautions are required.

Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges contain sucrose

Please use Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges only after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from an intolerance to certain sugars. 1 lozenge contains 0.8 g sucrose (sugar). If you have to follow a diabetic diet, you should take this into account. Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges can be harmful to your teeth (caries).

3. HOW TO USE BRONCHICUM THYME LOZENGES?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this package leaflet or exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is

Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults 2 lozenges 5 to 8 times a day 10 - 16 lozenges


Let Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges dissolve slowly in the mouth. The application takes place throughout the day at as regular intervals as possible. There is insufficient data for specific dosage recommendations in case of impaired renal or hepatic function. Do not use Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges for self-medication for longer than one week. If the symptoms persist for longer than one week, a doctor should be consulted. See also the information in the section "Special care must be taken when using Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges".

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges is too strong or too weak.

If you have used more Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges than you should

Poisoning with thyme herb preparations has not been reported to date. The side effects listed below may occur more frequently. In this case, please notify a doctor. He can decide on any necessary measures.

If you forget to use Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges

Do not use twice the amount if you have forgotten the previous application, but continue to use as prescribed by your doctor or as described in the instructions for use.

If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. In the case of thyme herb-containing preparations, allergic skin changes such as skin rash (exanthema) and hives (urticaria), swelling in the face, mouth and/or throat (Quincke's edema) as well as stomach problems (cramps, nausea, vomiting) can occur. A case of anaphylactic shock has been reported with other thyme preparations. The frequency of side effects is unknown. In appropriately sensitized patients, cineole and levomenthol can trigger hypersensitivity reactions (including shortness of breath). If side effects occur, please inform your doctor so that he can decide on the severity and any necessary measures. At the first signs of a hypersensitivity reaction, Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges must not be used again.

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects not listed in this package leaflet. 5. HOW TO STORE BRONCHICUM THYME LOZENGES?

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the folding box and the blister strips after "Use by:". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.

Storage conditions

Do not store above 25°C.

What Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges contain

The active ingredient is: Thyme herb dry extract. 1 pressed lozenge contains: 11.25 mg dry extract from thyme herb (2.5 - 5 : 1), extraction agent: 10% ammonia solution : 85% glycerol : 90% ethanol (V/V): water (1 : 20 : 70 : 109). The other ingredients are: Sucrose (saccharose), povidone, levomenthol, cineole, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate [vegetable], gum arabic, stearic acid (Ph. Eur.) [vegetable].

Bronchicum Thyme Lozenges are available in original packs of 10, 20 and 50 pressed lozenges.
