1. WHAT IS MULTILIND AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Multilind is an antifungal agent (antimycotic) combined with zinc oxide. Skin damage, which was initially caused by mechanical irritation, can later become infected by bacteria and fungi. The active ingredient nystatin is used to prevent and treat skin infections with yeasts (e.g. Candida albicans). The active ingredient zinc oxide is suitable for treating inflammatory and weeping skin lesions with or without bacterial infection. Multilind is used for inflammation of the skin and mucous membrane, soreness ("chafing") caused by mechanical irritation and red, itchy and burning areas in the body folds, in the buttocks and chest area and between the thighs, e.g. nappy rash.

2. WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BEFORE USING MULTILIND?

Multilind must not be used if you are allergic to nystatin and zinc oxide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.

Warnings and precautions

If hypersensitivity occurs, the medicine should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.

Use of Multilind together with other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used or intend to use any other medicines. No interactions with other medicines have been reported to date.

Note for use in the genital or rectal area

If Multilind Healing Ointment with Nystatin is used together with condoms, the tear resistance may be reduced and thus the safety of condoms may be impaired.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine. Multilind can be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Driving and using machines

No effects on the ability to drive and use machines have been reported to date.

3. HOW TO USE MULTILIND?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is

Multilind is applied to the affected skin areas once or several times a day.

Duration of use

Treatment should be continued for a few days after complete healing.

If you forget to use Multilind

Continue treatment as recommended in the dosage instructions.

If you stop using Multilind, the condition may worsen.

If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor and pharmacist.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. If severe skin reactions occur, the medicine must be discontinued and a doctor must be consulted.

The following frequency information is used to evaluate side effects:
Very common:	more than 1 in 10 treated persons
Common:	1 to 10 in 100 treated persons
Uncommon:	1 to 10 in 1,000 treated persons
Rare:	1 to 10 in 10,000 treated persons
Very rare:	less than 1 in 10,000 treated persons
Not known:	frequency cannot be estimated from the available data.

Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders

Rare: rash, itching.

Immune system disorders

Rare: allergic reactions to components of the healing paste (nystatin, zinc oxide, polyethylene, thick liquid paraffin, perfume oil).

Reporting of side effects

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly to the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices, Dept. of Pharmacovigilance, Kurt-Georg-Kiesinger Allee 3, D-53175 Bonn, website: www.bfarm.de. By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.

5. HOW TO STORE MULTILIND?

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. The shelf life after first opening the container is 12 months. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the folding box and the tube or dispenser. Multilind Healing Ointment with Nystatin can be used for the entire duration of treatment after opening the tube or dispenser. After the end of therapy, opened tubes or dispensers with Multilind Healing Ointment with Nystatin should no longer be used for later treatment. Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you no longer need it. This measure helps to protect the environment.

6. CONTENTS OF THE PACK AND OTHER INFORMATION

What Multilind contains

The active ingredients are: Nystatin and zinc oxide. 1 g of paste contains 100,000 IU of nystatin and 200 mg of zinc oxide. The other ingredients are thick liquid paraffin, polyethylene, perfume oil citrus-rose.

What Multilind looks like and contents of the pack

White paste. Multilind is available in tubes with 25 g and 50 g and dispensers with 100 g paste for application to the skin.
