The Trolli GmbH – formerly Mederer Süßwarenvertriebs GmbH – is a German confectionery manufacturer. In 1948, company founder Willy Mederer initially started producing pasta. Shortly thereafter, when sugar rationing was lifted, the company switched to confectionery production. In 1975, a new gummy candy was developed initially under the brand name Trolli the Bear and from 1980 under the name Trolli, inspired by the troll fashion of the time. After Willy Mederer's death, his son Herbert took over the management in 1984. In 1994, the company expanded to Spain and established a branch in Valencia. In 2017, the company employed around 2,000 people at locations in Germany, the Czech Republic, Spain, Indonesia, and China and generated sales of over 200 million euros in 2017. From July 1, 2010, to the end of June 2014, the company sponsored the football club SpVgg Greuther Fürth and was the name sponsor of the football stadium in Fürth, which was renamed Trolli Arena as part of this.
