Application

Eyelid hygiene Blephaclean is recommended for daily cleaning of the eyelids, especially if:

• You have sensitive skin, eyelids or eyes,
• if you want to remove dust, pollen and secretions from the eyes/crusts (due to an allergy or an infection),
• if you have an inflammation or infection of the eyelids (blepharitis, meibomian gland dysfunction, stye, chalazion). These symptoms can cause the feeling of dry eyes with itching, a gritty feeling, a sore feeling or even red eyes.
• For cleaning the eyelids before eye operations such as therapeutic injections into the eye (injections into the vitreous body), laser operations (LASIK or PRK) and cataract operations. Because Blephaclean is very well tolerated, it can also be used after operations if the doctor or ophthalmologist recommends it.

Blephaclean cleans your eyelids without irritating the skin around the eye or damaging the natural skin flora. Before an eye operation, Blephaclean should be used twice a day for 5 days or as recommended by your doctor or pharmacist. For all other cases, use Blephaclean twice a day, morning and evening, for 3 weeks and then once a day for a further 3 months or as recommended by your doctor or pharmacist. Some eyelid problems are chronic and you may need this eyelid hygiene for a longer period of time.

Rinsing is not necessary after use. Blephaclean is also suitable for children from 3 months of age. Tested under ophthalmological supervision. If you wear contact lenses, they must be removed before using Blephaclean.

Instructions for use

Cleaning the eyelids and eyelashes

Open the packaging bag and unfold the enclosed compress. With your eyes closed, gently press the compress onto your eyelids and eyelashes. Gently massage the eyelid in circular motions to gently remove crusts, secretions and make-up.

Cleaning the eyelid margin

Open the eyelid in front of a mirror by gently pulling the eyelashes slightly downwards. Carefully clean the eyelid margin with a rolled-up compress. Repeat the procedure on the other eye, using a new compress.

Precautions and warnings

For use on the skin, do not apply directly to the eyes. Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Blephaclean is a sterile product and is therefore for single use only. Do not use more than once, as this will reduce its effectiveness and may increase the risk of infection. Do not use if the packaging bag is already open or damaged. The colour of the compress (the lotion) may vary. This is due to natural plant extracts and is normal. Stop using Blephaclean and contact your doctor or pharmacist if your symptoms get worse. Do not use Blephaclean after the expiry date, which is clearly printed on the box and on the packaging bag. The compresses should be disposed of in household waste after use. Store between 8 and 25 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.

Possible side effects

The following have been reported after using Blephaclean: burning or itching for a few minutes after use, redness or swelling of the eyelids, allergic reactions.

The lotion contains

Capryloylglycine, sodium hyaluronate, PEG 8, poloxamer 184, polysorbate 20, propylene glycol, hydrocotyl extract (propylene glycol, Centella asiatica extract and water), preservative-free sebum-regulating complex (propylene glycol, Iris florentina root extract, zinc sulphate, PPG-5 Cethet 20 and retinyl palmitate (vitamin A), alcohol and water), PEG 6 Caprylic/Capric Glyceride (e.g. Macrogol 6 Glycerol Caprylocaprat), dipotassium phosphate, sodium hydroxide, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, purified water.
