Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum
Instructions for use
For vaginal dryness
Vaginal suppositories for use in the vagina

Ingredients

Calcium Lactate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides, Lactic Acid, PEG-20 Glyceryl Stearate, Sodium Carbomer. The vaginal suppository contains no hormones and is free of fragrances and preservatives.

Scope of application

For use in case of discomfort caused by dryness in the vagina such as a feeling of dryness, burning, itching, minor injuries and pain (including during sexual intercourse).

Product information

Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum is a vaginal suppository that melts after insertion into the vagina, absorbs existing vaginal fluid and thus forms a smooth and nourishing cream. In this way, the symptoms of dryness in the vagina caused by various causes (e.g. feeling of dryness, burning, itching, minor injuries and pain) can be relieved. Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum contains the addition of a lactic acid-calcium lactate buffer, which causes the cream formed in the vagina to have a pH value (acid value) of approx. 4.5. Since the normal acid value in the vagina is between 3.8 and 4.5, the lactic acid buffer system in Vagisan Feucht-Creme Cremolum helps to maintain a healthy vaginal environment. Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum is free of hormones and can also be used together with hormone replacement therapy or alternately with hormone (oestrogen)-containing vaginal creams or suppositories. Regular use of Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum can help prevent irritation and inflammation in the vagina.

What you should know about the symptoms of "vaginal dryness"

The symptoms associated with vaginal dryness can significantly impair quality of life. The feeling of dryness is often accompanied by other symptoms, such as itching, burning, minor injuries and pain in the vagina, the vaginal opening and the external genital area. In many cases, these symptoms also make sexual intercourse painful. Women are particularly affected during the menopause (sometimes starting as early as the age of 40) and in the years that follow. In these cases, dryness in the genital area is caused by a decrease in the production of sex hormones (including oestrogen). Less vaginal fluid is produced in the vagina, the skin becomes thinner and more vulnerable. These are completely normal processes that can nevertheless cause considerable discomfort. Hormone deficiency, hormonal fluctuations or shifts can also lead to the symptoms of vaginal dryness after operations on the uterus or ovaries, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as when taking the "pill". In addition, some metabolic diseases (such as diabetes), medications, radiation treatment for tumours and even stress can be associated with dryness in the inner and outer genital area.

Application

Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum is intended for use in the vagina; the vaginal suppositories are inserted as deeply as possible into the vagina - preferably before going to bed. This is best done lying on your back with your legs slightly bent. It is recommended to wear a panty liner during use. To remove a vaginal suppository from the foil, first separate one suppository from the remaining suppositories on the foil strip at the perforation. Then tear open the foil from top to bottom; use the opening aid (V-shaped cut in the foil). You can then squeeze the suppository out of the foil. Daily use is recommended at the beginning. Once the symptoms have improved, the frequency of use can be reduced as needed, e.g. to 2-3 times per week. Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum can also be used safely over a longer period of time if it is well tolerated, also during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Possible side effects

Occasionally, mild local irritation (itching, burning) and possibly slight discharge may occur temporarily. In rare cases, more severe skin irritation or hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. redness, itching, burning) may occur, which may also last somewhat longer. If these symptoms persist and do not improve, you should stop using Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum and consult a doctor. If you notice any other unpleasant effects, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Restrictions on use

If symptoms of dryness are more pronounced, medical advice should be sought first. Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive or allergic to any of the ingredients. The vaginal suppositories should not be used immediately after childbirth. Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum should also not be used if you have a vaginal infection (e.g. vaginal fungus); in this case, you should talk to your doctor. If the foil strip is damaged or the consistency of the vaginal suppositories changes, do not use the product and inform the manufacturer.

Important notes

Because Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum takes about 20-30 minutes to melt in the vagina and form a cream, the vaginal suppository should not be used immediately before sexual intercourse. Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum does not contain a spermicidal agent (i.e. an agent that kills male semen) and therefore does not protect against unwanted pregnancy. The tear resistance of condoms or pessaries when used together with Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum has not been investigated and may be impaired. Therefore, Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum should not be used at the same time as condoms and pessaries. There are no studies on the effect of Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum on sperm motility (male semen). Therefore, as a precaution, it is advisable not to use the vaginal suppositories before sexual intercourse if you are trying to conceive. To facilitate sexual intercourse in case of discomfort caused by dryness in the vagina or the vaginal opening, it is therefore recommended to use other products, e.g. Vagisan FeuchtCreme (does not affect sperm motility). Vagisan FeuchtCreme is also particularly suitable for women who prefer to use a cream instead of a vaginal suppository (then use with the enclosed vaginal applicator) or who only need a cream to relieve the symptoms of dryness in the external genital area.

Storage and shelf life

Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum should be stored out of the reach of children. Do not store the pack above 25 °C. The expiry date is printed on the flap of the packaging or on the foil strip. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated. Do not use Vagisan FeuchtCreme Cremolum after this date.
