1. WHAT ARE BIOLECTRA MAGNESIUM 365 MG FORTISSIMUM EFFERVESCENT TABLETS ORANGE FLAVOUR AND WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR?

Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour is a mineral supplement. Proven magnesium deficiency, if it is the cause of muscle activity disorders (neuromuscular disorders, calf cramps).

2. WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BEFORE TAKING BIOLECTRA MAGNESIUM 365 MG FORTISSIMUM EFFERVESCENT TABLETS ORANGE FLAVOUR?

Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour must not be taken,

• if you are allergic to magnesium carbonate, magnesium oxide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6,
• in case of renal impairment,
• in case of conduction disorders of the heart (higher grade AV block), which lead to slow heartbeat (bradycardia),
• in case of myasthenia gravis (rare muscle disease),
• in case of chronic urinary tract infections with urea-splitting bacteria,
• in case of severe water loss,
• in case of metabolic alkalosis (disorder in the acid-base balance),
• in case of certain urinary tract disorders (calcium-magnesium-ammonium phosphate stones).

Warnings and precautions

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour. If you suffer from magnesium excess (hypermagnesemia) or potassium excess (hyperkalemia).

Taking Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour together with other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or intend to take any other medicines. The absorption of iron, sodium fluoride, tetracyclines and magnesium may be impaired if iron, sodium fluoride or tetracycline are taken at the same time. In these cases, an interval of 3-4 hours should be maintained between taking Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour and taking iron preparations, sodium fluoride or orally taken tetracyclines. If aluminium-containing preparations (e.g. medicines for stomach hyperacidity) are taken at the same time, the aluminium resorption may be increased.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. There are no concerns against taking Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Driving and using machines

Effects of magnesium on the ability to drive and use machines are not known.

Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour contains sodium and potassium compounds

One effervescent tablet contains 4.65 mmol (107 mg) sodium. If you have to follow a low-salt diet, you should take this into account. One effervescent tablet contains 2.51 mmol (98 mg) potassium. If you suffer from impaired renal function or have to follow a potassium-controlled diet, you should take this into account.

3. HOW TO TAKE BIOLECTRA MAGNESIUM 365 MG FORTISSIMUM EFFERVESCENT TABLETS ORANGE FLAVOUR?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this package leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is

Adolescents and adults: 1-2 times a day 1 effervescent tablet In severe magnesium deficiency conditions, higher doses of Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour may be indicated under medical supervision and monitoring of the electrolyte balance. The dosage of Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour depends on the degree of magnesium deficiency. The average daily dose is 1-2 effervescent tablets (365-730 mg magnesium ions = 15-30 mmol). Please dissolve the effervescent tablet in a glass of drinking water and drink the glass completely. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the underlying magnesium deficiency. Long-term, high-dose magnesium intake should be monitored by a doctor.

If you have taken more Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour than you should

No special precautions need to be taken if renal function is intact.

If you forget to take Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour

Do not take twice the amount if you have forgotten to take the previous dose.

If you stop taking Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour An interruption or premature termination of treatment is harmless.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The following frequency information is used to evaluate side effects:
Very common:	more than 1 in 10 treated persons
Common:	1 to 10 in 100 treated persons
Uncommon:	1 to 10 in 1,000 treated persons
Rare:	1 to 10 in 10,000 treated persons
Very rare:	less than 1 in 10,000 treated persons
Not known:	frequency cannot be estimated from the available data.

Higher doses may cause soft stools, which are harmless and can be remedied by reducing the dose. High-dose and long-term intake of Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour may cause fatigue. In this case, the doctor should decide on the basis of clinical/chemical examinations whether further magnesium intake is still indicated.

5. HOW TO STORE BIOLECTRA MAGNESIUM 365 MG FORTISSIMUM EFFERVESCENT TABLETS ORANGE FLAVOUR?

Keep the tube tightly closed. Store in a dry place and not above 25 °C. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and the tube after . The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.

What Biolectra Magnesium 365 mg fortissimum effervescent tablets orange flavour contains

The active ingredients are: One effervescent tablet contains: light basic magnesium carbonate 670 mg, light magnesium oxide 342 mg, corresponding to a total of 365 mg magnesium ions. The other ingredients are: citric acid, sodium hydrogen carbonate, sodium carbonate, potassium hydrogen carbonate, saccharin sodium, sodium cyclamate, sodium chloride, flavouring, colourings: beetroot red (E 162) and beta-carotene (E 160a).
