Dear patient!
Please read the following instructions for use carefully, as they contain important information on what you should consider when using this medical device. If you have any questions, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.

What is Emser inhalation solution?
Emser inhalation solution is a sterile aqueous solution of natural Emser salt in a concentration that corresponds to the mineral content of the blood (isotonic), for inhalation with a suitable electric inhalation device (such as a jet or compressed air nebuliser, ultrasonic nebuliser or vibrating membrane nebuliser).

Intended use

For moistening the respiratory tract and supporting the natural cleaning mechanisms of the respiratory tract. As a carrier solution for the inhalation of beta-sympathomimetics and anticholinergics.

Important

Emser inhalation solution is not miscible with ambroxol and bromhexine-containing medicines.

What does Emser inhalation solution contain?
100 ml solution contain: 1.175 g natural Emser salt, purified water.

What is special about natural Emser salt?
Natural Emser salt is a very complex salt mixture, which contains numerous minerals and trace elements that are important for the human organism (analysis data of the ions in g/kg: lithium 0.21, sodium 308.7, potassium 6.11, magnesium, 0.291, calcium 0.016, manganese 0.0001, iron (II, III) 0.003, fluoride 0.078, chloride 188.4, bromide 0.202, iodide 0.005, nitrate 0.355, sulphate 9.24, hydrogen carbonate 474.4, carbonate 14.0 ).

When is Emser inhalation solution used?
Areas of application:
  • for dry mucous membranes.
  • for diseases associated with increased mucus production and mucus retention, such as acute and chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive bronchitis, bronchial asthma, cystic fibrosis, etc.
How does Emser inhalation solution work?
Emser inhalation solution ensures sufficient moistening of the mucous membrane surface and stimulates the activity of the cilia. In this way, Emser inhalation solution naturally supports the cleaning of the respiratory tract, which has a positive effect not only on inflammations, but also on increased dust and pollutant exposure and in all situations that lead to dehydration of the mucous membrane surface (e.g. air conditioning, heating air, etc.).

When should you not use Emser inhalation solution?
Emser inhalation solution must not be used if shortness of breath has occurred in attacks during previous inhalation with Emser inhalation solution or if intolerances to the ingredients are known.

What should be considered for children and the elderly as well as during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Emser inhalation solution is a pure solution of natural Emser salt in a salt concentration adapted to the blood. It is well tolerated by all people and can therefore be used in all the above-mentioned cases when used as intended.

How, how much, how often and for how long should you use Emser inhalation solution?
The following information applies unless your doctor has prescribed Emser inhalation solution differently. Please adhere to the instructions for use, as otherwise Emser inhalation solution cannot work properly! Emser inhalation solution should be inhaled 3 to 4 times a day, with 5 ml of solution being inhaled each time. The inhalation should always be carried out with a suitable atomiser. Electric nebulisers (ultrasonic nebulisers, jet or compressed air nebulisers or vibrating membrane nebulisers) are suitable. Depending on the type of device, the volume that must be used for atomisation can vary greatly. In this case, enough solution should be filled into the inhalation device to ensure an inhalation time of 10 to 15 minutes. If Emser inhalation solution is used as a carrier solution for other inhalation solutions such as beta-sympathomimetics and anticholinergics, the dilution instructions of the corresponding manufacturers should be observed. As a rule, these medicines should be mixed with 2-5 ml of Emser inhalation solution. Attention: Mixtures must be freshly prepared before each inhalation and must not be stored. The duration of use of Emser inhalation solution is not limited, but a break of at least 2 hours must be observed between each application. Please follow your doctor's instructions.

What side effects can occur when using Emser inhalation solution and what countermeasures should be taken in the event of side effects?
When inhaling Emser inhalation solution, patients with bronchial asthma and hyperreactive bronchial system may experience a spasmodic constriction of the bronchi with acute shortness of breath in individual cases. In this case, the inhalation must be stopped and a doctor must be consulted if the shortness of breath persists. If you observe any side effects that are not listed in this package leaflet, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.

What else should be considered?
The expiry date is printed on the packaging and on the outer bag. Do not use this pack after this date! Emser inhalation solution does not contain any preservatives. Therefore, you should always use opened ampoules immediately and do not use damaged ampoules. Always keep Emser inhalation solution out of the reach of children.

Emser tip

Inflammations of the nose and paranasal sinuses are often triggers for diseases of the bronchi. Then the treatment of the nose is the basis for the success of the treatment of the bronchi. Nasal rinses with the Emser nasal douche and Emser nasal rinse salt have proven to be very effective, as they flush mucus, pathogens and pollutants out of the nose and support the natural nasal function. In this way, nasal rinsing can protect against the development of bronchial asthma in the case of hay fever or against bronchitis in the case of chronic sinusitis.
