Description

Posterisan protect contains a skin protection complex for relieving symptoms of hemorrhoidal disease.

After application in and around the anus, the water-repellent skin protection complex forms a protective layer over the affected anal region. The pain-sensitive areas are thus protected from irritation. At the same time, bowel movements are noticeably facilitated by a mechanical gliding effect. This helps protect against the recurrence of symptoms.

What does Posterisan protect contain?
Posterisan protect contains a skin protection complex made of jojoba wax, yellow beeswax, and cetylstearyl isononanoate.

Jojoba wax (also called jojoba oil) nourishes, protects, and smooths the skin due to its favorable fatty acid composition. It forms a delicate lipid film on the skin without sealing it. The moisture retention capacity is increased, and skin elasticity in the stressed anal area improves. Natural yellow beeswax is responsible for the water-repellent effect of the skin protection complex, while cetylstearyl isononanoate makes the skin supple.

Other ingredients include benzyl alcohol, butylhydroxytoluene, white petrolatum, purified water, and wool wax.

When is Posterisan protect used?
Posterisan protect is used as needed.

It is particularly advisable to use it before and after bowel movements. The amount to be applied depends on the size of the skin and mucous membrane areas to be treated.

You can safely use Posterisan protect during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

How should you use Posterisan protect?
For application to the external anal area, apply a thin layer of the ointment with your finger.

For application in the anal canal, the package includes an applicator with side openings. For easier handling, it is recommended to store the ointment at room temperature.

Application of the Applicator

For application, screw the applicator onto the tube and remove the cap (Fig. 1). By pressing the tube, the ointment is pushed into the applicator until it emerges from the side openings (Fig. 2). Then, carefully insert the applicator into the anus. Lubrication can be increased by coating the applicator with a small amount of ointment. By pressing the tube again, the ointment is then dispensed into the anal canal. Sufficient distribution of the ointment is achieved by gently rotating the tube (Fig. 3). The best way to clean the applicator after use is by squeezing out some ointment at the side openings, wiping the surface with absorbent paper, and replacing the cap to prevent the ointment in the applicator from drying out.

If the ointment is not used for a longer period, the applicator should be unscrewed and cleaned with warm water.

We recommend rolling up the tube from the end after each use so that the front part is always full. This facilitates the removal of the ointment.

Note

The use of Posterisan protect may stain laundry. We therefore recommend using laundry protection (e.g., anal pads).

How long should you use Posterisan protect?
You can use Posterisan protect as needed and for up to four weeks without interruption. Regular use of Posterisan protect can help protect against the recurrence of hemorrhoidal symptoms.

When should you not use Posterisan protect?
If you have a hypersensitivity to wool wax or any other ingredient of Posterisan protect, you should refrain from using it.

Posterisan protect should not be used simultaneously with other preparations used to treat acute symptoms such as itching, stinging, burning, weeping, or pain in the anal region. Otherwise, the skin protection complex in Posterisan protect could potentially reduce the effectiveness of these preparations.

What side effects can occur when using Posterisan protect?
When Posterisan protect is used as intended, side effects are to be expected only in extremely rare cases.

Burning, pain, itching, local irritation, redness, and slight bleeding in the anal area have been reported during use.

Butylhydroxytoluene can cause localized skin irritation and irritation of mucous membranes.
