1. Purpose, composition and areas of application of the medical device
Doppelherz Throat Spray with Sea Buckthorn is a helpful medical device for the treatment of irritations in the throat and pharynx area as well as the associated frequent symptoms such as pain, difficulty swallowing, burning and dryness. Doppelherz Throat Spray with Sea Buckthorn is a useful aid in the treatment of sore throats in connection with pharyngitis, as it has a calming effect on the irritated mucous membrane due to its special polysaccharide content. The product is also indicated for sore throats caused by external irritants (viruses, bacteria, allergens, smoke, smog, powder) and for cold symptoms, in which excessive secretion production can lead to irritation.

1.1 Mechanism of action

The polysaccharides contained in Doppelherz Throat Spray with Sea Buckthorn form a gel that adheres to the mucous membrane thanks to its adhesive properties, which unfolds a protective effect and forms a barrier to protect the irritated mucous membrane. In addition, the tannins contained in Doppelherz Throat Spray with Sea Buckthorn cross-link saliva and mucus proteins, which also forms a barrier that prevents the adhesion of external irritants and acts against pain, burning and difficulty swallowing. Finally, the polysaccharides contained in Doppelherz Throat Spray with Sea Buckthorn are able to retain water and thus ensure that the irritated tissue is supplied with moisture.

1.2 Composition
Mucotannil complex, aqueous-glycerol-plantain extract, liquorice root extract, water, fructose, peppermint essential oil, menthol, anethole, ethyl alcohol.

Bottle with 30 ml.

3. Dosage and type of application
Adults and children > 12 years: 3 sprays up to 3 times a day. Shake well before use. The atomiser enables targeted and local dosing of the product. Do not use in children under 12 years of age, as the product contains alcohol. Keep the product away from food and drinks.

4. Side effects
No clinically significant side effects caused by the product are known or to be expected in the doses required to achieve a therapeutic effect. The only known contraindications are an individual allergy or hypersensitivity to the active ingredients of Doppelherz Throat Spray with Sea Buckthorn. If undesirable effects occur, stop treatment immediately and contact your doctor.

5. Interactions with medicines and food supplements
Liquorice root can impair the blood pressure lowering effect of some prescription drugs; the product should not be used by people taking medication for high blood pressure. Larch arabinogalactans can alter the pharmacokinetics of anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and its derivatives. The use of the product is not recommended when taking medicines of this class. The product contains mucous polysaccharides, which can impair the absorption of medicines taken at the same time. Do not use Doppelherz Throat Spray with Sea Buckthorn together with other medicines, especially not with sublingual sprays or tablets. In any case, it is generally advisable to use the product two hours before or after taking medicines or food supplements. It is recommended to inform your doctor if you are taking any medication.

6. Warnings and precautions
Doppelherz Throat Spray with Sea Buckthorn contains alcohol: Do not use the product in children under 12 years of age. Do not use the product during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Keep this product out of reach of children. Do not use if you are intolerant to the product. Do not use if you are known to be hypersensitive to the ingredients (the product contains Icelandic moss and larch arabinogalactans). If you have gastritis or a gastrointestinal ulcer, only use the product after consulting your doctor. In the case of a diaphragmatic hernia or narrowing of the oesophagus, ask your doctor for advice before starting to use the product. Do not use on severely injured mucous membranes (e.g. cracks, aphthae, etc.). The recommended dose must not be exceeded. Do not use the product for more than 30 consecutive days and consult a doctor if symptoms persist. Sore throats can be a sign of infection. If symptoms persist or fever occurs, see a doctor. As the product contains liquorice, it should not be used by patients with high blood pressure. Patients taking liquorice-containing medicines should not use any other products containing liquorice, as serious side effects may occur. If you are taking a contraceptive ("the pill"), always consult a doctor before using this product.

7. Storage
Store Doppelherz Throat Spray with Sea Buckthorn in a dry place without direct heat or light sources. Do not use if the packaging is damaged. Keep out of reach of children. Store at a controlled temperature (15°C - 25°C).

8. Expiry date
Do not use this product after the expiry date stated on the outer carton. The expiry date refers to the storage of the product in its undamaged container. Use the product within one month after opening.

9. Disposal
Dispose of the expired product in accordance with local waste regulations. Do not dispose of the product or packaging in the environment under any circumstances.
