What is algovir Effekt?
algovir Effekt is used for the supportive treatment of colds or flu-like infections of viral origin; algovir Effekt can also be used preventively. The sustained moistening of the nasal mucosa supports the natural defense. For use in adults and children from one year of age. algovir Effekt contains no preservatives. A sterile filter ensures the sterility of the solution even after repeated use.

What does algovir Effekt contain?
algovir Effekt is a clear, colorless, viscous solution without odor. 1 ml of solution contains 1.2 mg Iota-Carrageen (Carragelose), 0.4 mg kappa Carrageen, sodium chloride and purified water. Carragelose and kappa Carrageen are marine active ingredients derived from red algae.

What are the properties of algovir Effekt?
Low humidity can cause the nasal mucosa to dry out. However, the nose can only fulfill its filtering function if the nasal mucosa is sufficiently moisturized. algovir Effekt forms a moisturizing protective film on the nasal mucosa. This film acts as a physical barrier against external influences. The sustained moistening can prevent the development of colds and flu-like infections caused by cold viruses. The nose is the most common route of infection for viruses that cause cold illnesses (flu-like infections). Flu-like infections are caused by viruses such as rhinoviruses and coronaviruses. If cold viruses have entered the nose, they can attach to the mucous membrane and infect it. There, the viruses multiply and spread. The consequence of this are typical cold symptoms such as a blocked or runny nose, sore throat and/or headache, cough, etc. In the early phase of an illness, it is often not possible to determine with certainty whether it is a flu-like infection or real flu. Flu is a potentially serious illness; a clear diagnosis requires a doctor. algovir Effekt forms a protective film on the nasal mucosa that prevents cold viruses from attaching and thus acts as a physical barrier against cold viruses. algovir Effekt can thus reduce the amount of cold viruses in nasal secretions.

Areas of application - when is algovir Effekt used?
algovir Effekt can shorten the duration of flu-like infections, alleviate symptoms and reduce the recurrence of virus-related cold symptoms. In addition, algovir Effekt is used for the preventive and sustained moistening of the nasal mucosa and thus for the prophylaxis and supportive treatment of all complaints that arise as a result of dry or irritated nasal mucosa.

Dosage and method of application

How and how often is algovir Effekt used?
At the first signs of a cold (e.g., tingling or runny nose, etc.), spray one puff into each nostril at least 3 times daily. Treatment should begin as soon as possible after the first cold symptoms appear and continue until the symptoms subside. If fever also occurs or if there is no improvement in symptoms after 1 week, a doctor should be consulted. To moisturize a dry nasal mucosa, spray several puffs into the nose daily as needed.

• Before use, remove the protective cap and, if necessary, pump a few times until an even spray mist emerges. algovir Effekt is now ready for use.
• Carefully insert the spray head into the nose, not too deep, to avoid injury! Hold the spray bottle upright when spraying.
• Replace the protective cap after use.

When should algovir Effekt not be used?
In case of known hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation.

Possible side effects of algovir Effekt
No side effects have been reported during the marketing of Carragelose nasal sprays. In a clinical study with 35 adults, dry mouth or swollen eyelids were observed in one participant each as side effects possibly related to the use of the product. No studies on interactions with other products have been conducted.

Special notes for safe use:

• algovir Effekt has a local effect and is not absorbed by the body.
• algovir Effekt can also be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

If symptoms persist, you should definitely consult a doctor. For hygienic reasons and to avoid the transmission of pathogens, one spray bottle should only be used by one person. Keep out of reach of children!

Bottle with 20 ml with spray attachment; 1 spray = 0.14 ml solution.

Shelf life

36 months. Due to the special filter system, the solution remains sterile even after repeated use. algovir Effekt can be used for 12 months after first opening.

Storage instructions

Store between 5°C and 30°C. Light protection required.
