Country of origin
Description
2 pieces of MSC certified plaice fillets, with skin.
The plaice (Pleuronectes platessa) is one of numerous flatfish and can be found in cold, saline waters in Northern and Central Europe. The flounder, as the plaice is also called, lives flat on the seabed and lies in wait for its prey there. Close relatives are the turbot and halibut.
Taste and preparation:
The tender plaice meat is bright white and tastes more intense and less sweet than that of other flatfish.
There are many ways to prepare plaice. Classic breaded and fried, or rolled and gently steamed, right up to the rustic version with bacon.
