
Every piece counts. And we save them all.
According to the Federal Environment Agency, around 10.8 million tons of food end up in the trash every year in Germany. That's about 75 kg per person. And yes, this doesn't just happen at home. Also in supermarkets. Also in our warehouses. Why? Because something doesn't look "pretty enough". Because too much was produced. Or because it was left over from a perfect recipe, even though it's still full of flavor and nutrients. That's why we launched "Save Food". Our initiative against food waste, with which we actively support Food Banks. But now we're going a step further.
Upcycling: Leftovers become rescue
Together with the professionals from TransFoodMission, we are the first retailer in Europe to start upcycling and turn apparent waste into new products that not only taste good but also do good. Whether it's crooked carrots or excess production leftovers, we work closely with our farmers and producers to create something truly meaningful from these treasures. We do this for less waste, for more flavor, and for a planet where every ingredient counts. And the best part: You are part of it.
We are far from finished. Our upcycling shelf is filling up piece by piece. New delicacies are already on their way!
