Leibniz, known for his Monadology, which states that monads are the fundamental building blocks of the world, is one of the great thinkers of the Enlightenment. He developed the calculus independently of Isaac Newton and had a long correspondence with him about it. Leibniz was a versatile scholar who engaged in philosophy, mathematics, natural sciences, hydraulic engineering, architecture, and theology. He developed the binary number system, which is fundamental to modern computer science. Leibniz believed that our world is the best of all possible worlds. He studied at the university at the age of 15 and also worked as a diplomat, trying to bridge religious divides. Additionally, he worked on the development of a universal language that was intended to convert arguments into mathematical calculations. Bahlsen GmbH & Co.
