NISITA Nasal Ointment

Dear patient! Please read the following instructions carefully, as they contain important information about what you should observe when using this medical device. If you have any questions, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.

What does NISITA Nasal Ointment contain?
100 g of ointment contain 2.8 g sodium chloride and 7.2 g sodium bicarbonate. Other ingredients: wool wax alcohols, lemon oil, white petrolatum, medium-chain triglycerides, liquid paraffin, cetylstearyl alcohol.

When is NISITA Nasal Ointment used?
NISITA Nasal Ointment is used for dry nasal mucous membranes:
  • for supportive treatment of a blocked nose, e.g., with a cold
  • for cleaning and moistening the nasal mucous membrane, e.g., in dry indoor air
  • for loosening scabs and crusts.
NISITA Nasal Ointment is suitable for adults, children, and infants.

When should NISITA Nasal Ointment not be used?
NISITA Nasal Ointment must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

When is caution required when using NISITA Nasal Ointment?
No special precautions are necessary when used as intended. However, after nasal operations/accidents, medical advice should be sought before using NISITA Nasal Ointment.

May NISITA Nasal Ointment be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
There is no experience that speaks against the use of NISITA Nasal Ointment during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How do you use NISITA Nasal Ointment?
Apply approx. 1 cm of ointment into each nostril several times a day. Insert the tip of the tube as deep as possible into each nostril, squeeze out some ointment, and spread it evenly over the nasal mucous membrane by gently massaging the nasal wings. The inner nasal surfaces can also be coated with a cotton swab to which NISITA Nasal Ointment is applied. Applications should be made several times a day, especially before bedtime. For hygienic reasons and to avoid infections, it is recommended that each dosage unit should only be used by one person. After use, the tip of the tube should be wiped clean.

How long may you use NISITA Nasal Ointment?
If necessary, NISITA Nasal Ointment can also be used for a longer period. If no improvement has occurred after 14 days of treatment, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.

What undesirable side effects can NISITA Nasal Ointment have?
In rare cases, NISITA Nasal Ointment can cause a slight burning sensation on the nasal mucous membrane due to its mild irritating effect. The wool wax alcohols and lemon oil contained in the ointment can very rarely lead to hypersensitivity reactions.

What else should be noted?
NISITA Nasal Ointment may only be used until the expiry date indicated on the folding box and the tube crimp!

Special attention!
NISITA Nasal Ointment should always be stored in its folding box during daily use to prevent possible damage to the tube by, for example, sharp, hard objects. NISITA Nasal Ointment contains a mixture of liquid and solid fats as its ointment base, which can change if the product is not stored correctly (below 15° C or above 25° C). At higher temperatures, the ointment can separate, so that when the product is used, some oil may initially emerge from the tube opening, while with cool storage, the removal of the ointment may be somewhat more difficult. For optimal removal, the ointment string should always be squeezed out of the tube from back to front to prevent possible damage to the tube, which can occur, for example, through repeated bending.

Small air inclusions, as they occur during tube filling, have no influence on the effectiveness of the product or the filling quantity of the tube. Keep out of reach of children!

Which packs are available?
Packs of 10 g and 20 g ointment.
