When should Thealoz Duo be used

Thealoz Duo contains a solution for use on the eye or on contact lenses. Thealoz Duo is recommended for the treatment of symptoms of dry eyes (feeling of discomfort, stinging, burning) due to external influences such as wind, smoke, dust, air pollution, strong sunlight, cold, dry heat, air conditioning as well as air travel or prolonged screen work ... Thealoz Duo is preservative-free and offers optimum protection for the eye tissue. It is suitable for all types of contact lenses and provides immediate wearing comfort during the day.

Properties

Thealoz Duo is a sterile, preservative-free, hypotonic and pH-neutral aqueous solution. The main ingredients are trehalose, a natural substance found in numerous plant and animal species, and hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate), a natural substance found in the eye. Thanks to its physico-chemical characteristics, trehalose has very good antioxidant, moisturising and protective properties. Trehalose is an essential element of the anhydrobiotic mechanisms observed in various microorganisms (a slowed-down metabolism enables them to survive even extreme dryness). Trehalose has an antioxidant effect and protects and stabilises cell membranes by preventing the alteration of proteins and the destruction of lipids. Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide that occurs naturally in the human body (eye) and has exceptional moisture-binding properties, which ensure even and long-lasting moistening of the corneal surface. Its bioadhesive properties ensure good adhesion to the surface of the eye, long-lasting relief from the symptoms of dry eyes and rapid regeneration of damaged corneal tissue. By combining trehalose and hyaluronic acid, Thealoz Duo provides long-lasting, intensive moistening of the eyes, effective protection of the eye surface and maximum comfort. Thealoz Duo is available in a multi-dose ABAK bottle, is preservative-free and therefore very well tolerated. The innovative, patented ABAK system enables the eye drops to be applied from a conventional dropper bottle and prevents bacterial contamination of the solution by means of a 0.2 µm filter membrane system. The solution thus protected can be used for 3 months after opening the bottle.

Special warnings and precautions for use:

• do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients
• avoid any contact between the dropper tip and the eye or eyelid
• do not inject or ingest the eye drops
• do not use the bottle if the tamper-evident seal on the cap is damaged before first use.

Keep out of reach of children.

Interactions

If you are also using other eye drops, you should allow at least 10 minutes between applications.

How to use the product

Instructions for use

For instillation into the eye.

• Wash your hands thoroughly before use.
• Avoid any contact between the dropper tip and the eye or eyelid, especially if you have an eye infection.
• Instil one drop into the conjunctival sac by gently pulling the lower eyelid down and looking upwards.
• Close the bottle after each use.

Dosage

1 drop in each eye, 4 - 6 times a day. Thealoz Duo can be used while wearing contact lenses.

Undesirable side effects

In rare cases, mild eye irritation may occur.

Storage

Do not use for more than 3 months after opening the bottle. Do not store above 25°C. Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging. The expiry date given applies to an undamaged, properly stored product. Do not use damaged bottles.
