Hylo Gel for intensive, therapeutic moistening of the eye surface in case of severe and chronic dry eyes, as well as after surgical interventions on the eye
Active ingredient: Sodium hyaluronate 2 mg/ml
Sterile, phosphate-free solution without preservatives

What is Hylo Gel?
Hylo Gel is a sterile, phosphate- and preservative-free solution for use on the eye.

Composition

1 ml Hylo Gel contains 2 mg sodium hyaluronate, anhydrous citric acid, sodium citrate, sorbitol and water for injections.

What is Hylo Gel used for?
For intensive, therapeutic moistening of the eye surface in case of severe and chronic dry eyes, as well as after surgical interventions on the eye.

When should Hylo Gel be used?
Hylo Gel contains the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that is found in the eye, but also in other parts of the body. It has the special physical property of forming an even, stable and particularly long-lasting moisture film on the surface of the eye without being rinsed off quickly. This so-called bioadhesive property nourishes the cornea and conjunctiva and, together with the natural tears, makes them ideally smooth for blinking. Hylo Gel contains a particularly high amount of hyaluronic acid and is therefore highly viscous. This provides the eye with a particularly intensive and long-lasting supply of a stable moisture film. Persistent or severe discomfort is relieved and the eye is permanently protected from irritation. Surgical interventions on the eye or injuries to the eye can reduce the body's own tear secretion. The regeneration of the superficial tissues of the eye requires constant sufficient moisture. By using Hylo Gel, the cornea and conjunctiva are supplied with moisture for a long time, so that the physiological healing processes can take place optimally. Due to the absence of preservatives, Hylo Gel is generally very well tolerated. Hylo Gel is also phosphate-free, so that possible complications due to the formation of deposits in the cornea are avoided.

How to use Hylo Gel?
Only use Hylo Gel if the seal of the folding box was intact before first use. Remove the cap before each use. To do this, hold the cap just above the bottle and pull the bottle away from the cap with a twisting motion with your other hand. Please hold the bottle with the dropper tip vertically downwards before using Hylo Gel for the first time and press the bottom of the bottle so often until the first drop comes out of the tip of the bottle. The bottle is then ready for use for the following applications. Hold the bottle with the dropper tip downwards by placing your thumb on the shoulder of the bottle and your other fingers on the bottom of the bottle. Support the hand with the Comod bottle as shown on the free hand. Tilt your head back slightly, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye with your free hand and press quickly and firmly in the middle of the bottom of the bottle. This activates the mechanism for removing a drop. Due to the special valve technology of the Comod system, the size and speed of the drop is always the same, even when the bottom of the bottle is pressed very hard. Slowly close your eyes so that the liquid can spread evenly over the surface of the eye. Close the dropper tip carefully with the cap immediately after use. Please make sure that the dropper tip is dry. Avoid contact of the dropper tip with the eye or facial skin when dripping. 10 ml of solution can be removed from one bottle; this corresponds to about 300 drops. For production reasons, a small amount of liquid always remains in the bottle. The duration of use of Hylo Gel is not limited. The contents of one bottle of Hylo Gel should always be used by the same person.

What other instructions for use should be observed?
In the event of additional other medicinal treatment with eye drops, an application interval of at least 30 minutes should be observed. Hylo Gel should then always be administered last. Eye ointments should always be applied to the conjunctival sac after Hylo Gel. Due to its preservative-free nature, Hylo Gel is particularly well tolerated even with long-term use. In very rare individual cases, hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. burning, tearing) have been reported, which subside immediately after discontinuation of Hylo Gel. Due to the viscosity (viscosity) of the preparation, temporary blurred vision is possible immediately after application of Hylo Gel. Hylo Gel relieves the symptoms of severe or chronic dry eyes. If, despite this condition, the ophthalmologist permits the wearing of contact lenses, Hylo Gel can be used while wearing contact lenses. However, in these cases, streaks can be expected on the contact lenses, which generally disappear after a few blinks. We recommend waiting about 30 minutes after inserting contact lenses before using the eye drops to avoid possible intolerance reactions due to interactions between contact lens care products and Hylo Gel. According to the available findings, Hylo Gel can also be used in children, pregnant and breastfeeding women.

How often and for how long should Hylo Gel be used?
Hylo Gel should be dosed individually according to your condition and/or the recommendation of your ophthalmologist. In general, you should drop 1 drop of Hylo Gel into the conjunctival sac of each eye 3 times a day. In case of severe discomfort, Hylo Gel can be dripped more often during the day. If you use Hylo Gel more often (e.g. more than 10 times a day), have your eyes examined by your ophthalmologist. Hylo Gel is suitable for long-term use, however, as with all diseases, you should consult an ophthalmologist if symptoms persist.

When should Hylo Gel not be used?
Hylo Gel should not be used if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

What instructions should be observed for storing Hylo Gel?
Do not store above 25°C. After opening the bottle, Hylo Gel can be used for 6 months. Do not use after the expiry date. Keep out of reach of children.
