Simeticon AL 280 mg soft capsules is a medical device that improves the condition of the intestinal and abdominal area in people suffering from gastrointestinal problems due to gas formation: flatulence, bloating and a feeling of fullness.

Properties

The active ingredient contained in Simeticon AL 280 mg soft capsules is simethicone. It improves the condition of the intestinal and abdominal area by preventing or alleviating discomfort due to gas formation. Simethicone has been scientifically proven to reduce the surface tension of air bubbles present in the gastrointestinal tract:

• it reduces flatulence (defoaming effect), bloating and a feeling of fullness.
• it reduces gas shadows in the intestine.

Simeticon AL 280 mg soft capsules can also be used in preparation for diagnostic examinations of the abdomen (endoscopy, radiography, ultrasound examination).

Mode of action

Simethicone works by reducing the surface tension of air bubbles present in the gastrointestinal tract and causing them to clump together, which helps to distribute the gas and reduce gas tension. Simethicone is neither absorbed nor metabolised by the body, but is excreted unchanged in the stool. The soft capsule dissolves quickly and is then excreted by the body. It only acts as a carrier for the delivery of simethicone.

Intended use

The medical device is intended for adults for the prevention or relief of gastrointestinal discomfort caused by gas formation such as flatulence and a feeling of fullness. It can also be used in preparation for a diagnostic examination of the abdomen (endoscopy, radiography, ultrasound examination).

Instructions for use

Relief of gastrointestinal problems

Take one soft capsule daily after each main meal with a large glass of water. Soft capsules should be taken orally. The soft capsule then dissolves quickly and simethicone is released into the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum duration of treatment is 30 consecutive days.

Preparation for diagnostic examinations

Follow your doctor's recommendations.

For adults only. Keep out of reach of children.

Ingredients

Simethicone 280 mg, soft capsule shell: bovine gelatine, glycerol, purified water, titanium dioxide (E171), yellow orange S (E110), azorubine (E122).

Simeticon AL 280 mg soft capsules must not be taken in the following cases:

• in case of known hypersensitivity to simethicone or any of the ingredients.
• in case of known or suspected perforation or obstruction of the digestive tract.
• by children.

Warnings and precautions

The simultaneous administration of levothyroxine and simethicone can lead to a reduced effectiveness of levothyroxine and thus to a reduced function of the thyroid gland. This medical device can be taken by diabetics as it contains no sugar. Since simethicone is excreted unchanged via the digestive tract, the product is also suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this product. The safety of simethicone during pregnancy has not been investigated.
