Artelac Lipids

It is an ideal product for particularly long-lasting relief from dry eyes. They cover the tear film with a highly viscous drop that remains on the surface of the eye and moisturises it. Artelac Lipids moisturises and soothes the eyes and provides long-lasting relief from the symptoms of a chronic tear film disorder, such as burning, tired and/or watery eyes.

• Artelac Lipids supplements all three layers of the tear film. It contains sterile water for moisturising, carbomer for binding the moisture to the surface of the eye and triglycerides to support the lipid layer of the tear film, which seals in the moisture.
• Artelac Lipids are highly viscous eye drops that provide long-lasting protection for the surface of the eye.
• Artelac Lipids is easy to use, well tolerated and safe.

Intended use

Artelac Lipids is an eye moisturiser.

Composition

Artelac Lipids contains 2 mg carbomer, medium-chain triglycerides (lipids) and sterile water. It also contains sorbitol, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate and sodium hydroxide and cetrimide as a preservative.

Pack sizes

Artelac Lipids is available in bottles with 10 g of eye gel drops (1 x 10 g, 3 x 10 g). Artelac Lipids is also available in handy, single-dose, preservative-free Opthioles (EDO).

Use of Artelac Lipids

Artelac Lipids is ideal for soothing and relieving persistent symptoms of dry eye, which are due to a chronic lack of tear fluid. A chronic lack of tear fluid can be caused by a number of factors, such as inflammation and dysfunction of the tear gland, insufficient blinking and sensory disorders and/or poor quality of the tear fluid. Due to the complexity of a tear film disorder, treatment options are limited; however, Artelac Lipids supplements all three layers of the tear film, including the important outer lipid layer, and in this way provides the greatest possible relief from symptoms and moisturises the surface of the eye.

Safe and correct use of Artelac Lipids

Treatment of dry eye requires individual therapy depending on the severity and intensity of the symptoms. Instil one drop of Artelac Lipids gel into the eye three to five times a day or more often if required. It is advisable to wash your hands before using Artelac Lipids.

1. Remove the protective cap from the tip of the bottle before each use. Take care not to touch the dropper tip.
2. Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down gently with a finger of your free hand. Hold the bottle vertically with the dropper tip pointing downwards over your eye (do not touch your eye). Squeeze the bottle to drop one drop into the lower conjunctival sac.
3. Replace the protective cap on the bottle tip after each use. Then close your eyes, move them gently from side to side and then blink so that the gel drop is distributed evenly over the surface of the eye.

Contraindications

Do not use the product if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

Precautions:

• If hypersensitivity reactions (irritation or intolerance) occur, discontinue use of Artelac Lipids.
• Safety note for patients with severe corneal damage: In very rare cases, deposits of calcium phosphate on the cornea have been reported during treatment with phosphate-containing eye products.
• Avoid contact of the tip of the dropper bottle with your fingers or eye to prevent possible contamination of the liquid or possible damage.
• If you are using several eye preparations, wait about 15 minutes before using another preparation.
• Contact lenses should be removed before using the eye gel. They can be reinserted after an interval of at least 15 minutes.
• Even when used as directed, the product can lead to temporary blurred vision or other impaired vision, which can have a negative effect on driving or operating machinery.
• Careless use contrary to the instructions for use can lead to slipping during instillation and thus to eye injuries.
• Do not use Artelac Lipids after the expiry date.
• Check the bottle for possible damage before first use. Do not use damaged bottles.

Storage

Store the medical device at max. 25°C.
