1. WHAT IS ALLGÄUER LATSCHENKIEFER FRANZBRANNTWEIN AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

For external use. For promoting skin circulation. In acute conditions, which are accompanied by redness, swelling or overheating of joints, for example, in persistent joint complaints or in severe back pain, which radiates into the legs and/or is connected with numbness or tingling, for example, a doctor should be consulted.

2. WHAT SHOULD YOU BE AWARE OF BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE?

This medicine must not be used:
  • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients listed in section 6.
  • in patients with whooping cough, bronchial asthma and other respiratory diseases, which are accompanied by a pronounced hypersensitivity of the respiratory tract as well as in patients with skin and childhood diseases with exanthema.
  • on open injuries, inflammations or infections of the skin, in eczema.
  • on mucous membranes, in the area of the eyes.
  • in diabetic microangiopathy.
  • in peripheral venous or arterial insufficiency.
  • if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • in infants and toddlers under 30 months (risk of laryngeal spasm).
  • in children with seizure disorders (with and without fever).

Warnings

Contains mountain pine oil, racemic camphor, levomenthol. Contains poly(oxyethylene)-60-hydrogenated castor oil, which can cause skin irritation. This medicine should not come into contact with skin wounds.

Precautions

This medicine should not come into contact with skin wounds, eyes or mucous membranes. You should make sure that children do not come into contact with the rubbed-in skin areas with their hands. In the case of external use in the form of compresses, no airtight dressing materials should be used. Do not use for wet compresses. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.

Children

Do not use in children under 30 months.

Use together with other medicines

No interactions have become known so far when used as intended. Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used or intend to use other medicines.

Use together with food and drinks and alcohol

No impairments are known so far.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding and fertility

There is no data available for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Animal studies also provide insufficient information on whether treatment has a harmful effect on the development of offspring. You must therefore not use this medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

3. HOW SHOULD THE MEDICINE BE USED?

For external use only! Do not ingest! Always use this medicine exactly as described in this package leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is

Apply thinly to the affected parts of the body one to several times a day and rub and massage into the skin until dry. If you apply a dressing, the solution should dry on the skin for a few minutes beforehand. The use of an airtight dressing (occlusive dressing) is not recommended. Simultaneous cold therapy (cryotherapy) is not recommended due to the possible additional skin irritation. Large-scale use is not recommended. Do not use this medicine for more than 3 days without medical advice. The attending physician will decide on the further duration of treatment. As a rule, use for 1 - 2 weeks is sufficient. The therapeutic benefit of use beyond this period has not been proven.

If you have used a larger amount than you should or in case of accidental ingestion

Please notify your doctor. Specific antidotes are not known; under no circumstances should milk or alcoholic beverages be drunk, as this can promote the absorption of essential oils.

If you forget to use it

Do not use double the amount, but continue with the regular use.

If you stop using it or if you have any further questions on the use of the medicine

Contact your doctor or pharmacist.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The following categories are used as a basis for the frequency of side effects:
Very common: more than 1 in 10 treated persons
Common: 1 to 10 in 100 treated persons
Uncommon: 1 to 10 in 1,000 treated persons
Rare: 1 to 10 in 10,000 treated persons
Very rare: less than 1 in 10,000 treated persons
Not known: frequency cannot be estimated from the available data.


In appropriately sensitised patients, essential oils and camphor can cause hypersensitivity reactions, e.g. on the mucous membranes (including shortness of breath and airway constriction (bronchospasm)) and the skin with skin redness, itching, burning, rash also with pustule and wheal formation or local allergic reactions (contact dermatitis). In infants and children up to 30 months, the medicine can cause laryngeal spasm with the consequence of severe breathing difficulties. The inhalation of essential oils can trigger coughing. Bronchospasms can be intensified. The frequency of occurrence of the mentioned side effects is not known. In the case of skin redness, burning and skin irritation, the affected areas should be rinsed thoroughly with water. In the case of signs of a hypersensitivity reaction, treatment should be discontinued and not used again.

5. HOW SHOULD THE MEDICINE BE STORED?

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label after "Use by:". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated. Do not dispose of medicines in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you no longer use it. You thus help to protect the environment.

What the medicine contains

100 ml (corresponding to 91 g) of solution contain: Active ingredients: Mountain pine oil 1.2740 g, racemic camphor 0.7917 g, levomenthol 0.6370 g. Other ingredients: Ethanol 96%(V/V), purified water, poly(oxyethylene)-60-hydrogenated castor oil, isobornyl acetate, Spanish sage oil, rosemary oil, seven-herb oil R 041.923, dye mixture: E104, E110, E131, E124, sodium sulphate.
