Betaisodona Oral Antiseptic, Solution. Active ingredient: Povidone-iodine. Areas of application: is used once for the antiseptic treatment of the oral mucosa (e.g., before surgical procedures), especially in patients with impaired immune systems (to prevent local wound infections) and in patients at risk of endocarditis (inflammation of the inner lining of the heart and heart valves) (to prevent bacteremia [presence of bacteria in the bloodstream]). Betaisodona Oral Antiseptic is used repeatedly, for a limited time, to prevent radiation-induced inflammation of the oral mucosa (mucositis) in patients undergoing radio- or radiochemotherapy (radiation therapy or combined radiation and chemotherapy).
