Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt - physiologicalDear patient! Please read the following instructions for use carefully, as they contain important information on what you should consider when using this medical device. If you have any questions, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.
What does Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt contain?
Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt contains a mineral salt mixture with 5% natural Emser Salt. Analysis data of the mineral salt mixture: Ions in g/kg: Sodium 356, Potassium 9.2, Chloride 449, Hydrogencarbonate 173, Sulphate 11.5. Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt does not contain any chemical additives for preservation or improvement of flow properties. The natural Emser Salt contains numerous valuable minerals and trace elements in a unique balance and combination. Its origin from the depths of the earth ensures its natural purity. Its special composition makes it exceptionally well tolerated and enhances the effectiveness of mechanical irrigation treatments of the main nasal cavity.
When is Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt used?
Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt is used for nasal irrigation. Nasal irrigation is always advisable if the nose needs to be cleaned and moistened intensively. This is important, for example, in case of increased exposure to dust and dirt, but also in case of increased mucus and crust formation. In times of increased risk of infection with colds, regular nasal irrigation prevents the development of colds. For allergy sufferers, regular nasal irrigation is recommended during pollen season, especially in the evening before going to bed. Nasal irrigation is also suitable for moistening the nasal mucosa and is therefore always advisable if the nasal mucosa has become too dry due to environmental influences, such as air conditioning, heating air, etc.
How and how often is Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt used?
Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt is used to prepare a nasal irrigation solution. To do this, one sachet of Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt is dissolved in 250 ml of warm water and the nose is irrigated with it. The water required to prepare the irrigation solution must be of at least drinking water quality and should always be fresh. In special cases of illness, such as cystic fibrosis or immediately after surgical procedures, the use of sterile or boiled water may be necessary. We recommend using the Emser Nasal Douche Nasanita for irrigation. For hygienic reasons, irrigation from the hollow of the hand is not recommended. Nasal irrigation can be carried out up to 3 times a day with 250 ml of solution each time. As a rule, it is recommended to carry out the procedure once a day. In the context of long-term irrigation therapies (several months and years), irrigation treatments every 2 to 3 days have also proven effective.
What else needs to be considered when preparing a nasal irrigation solution?
It is important to adhere to the correct concentration of the irrigation solution, as irrigation solutions that are too highly or too weakly concentrated can lead to irritation and side effects. Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt dissolved according to the instructions (1 sachet in 250 ml of water) always results in an isotonic saline solution, i.e. a solution adapted to the mineral content of the blood. Please use irrigation solutions made with drinking water only immediately after preparation, as Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt does not contain any preservatives and the solution quickly becomes contaminated if stored.
When should Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt not be used?
Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt must not be used if there are direct connections to the fluid spaces of the brain due to injuries to the roof of the nose and the paranasal sinus walls. Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt should not be used in case of severe nosebleeds.
How long can you use Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt?
Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt can be used indefinitely, provided that the irrigation solution is always prepared in the correct concentration.
What undesirable side effects can Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt have?
In very rare cases, slight irritation such as tingling and burning in the nose may occur when used as intended.
What else should be considered?
Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt does not contain any preservatives. Irrigation solutions made from Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt should therefore be used immediately after preparation and cannot be stored. Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt should no longer be used after the expiry date printed on the packaging. Please always store Emser Nasal Irrigation Salt out of the reach of children.
