Active ingredient: 1 ml of eye drops contains 50 mg of dexpanthenol.

1. WHAT ARE PAN-OPHTAL EYE DROPS AND WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR?

Pan-Ophtal eye drops are a synthetic tear fluid. Pan-Ophtal eye drops are used for the symptomatic treatment of symptoms of dryness of the cornea and conjunctiva due to tear secretion disorders caused by local or systemic underlying diseases as well as in the case of insufficient eyelid closure.

2. WHAT SHOULD YOU BE AWARE OF BEFORE USING PAN-OPHTAL EYE DROPS?

You should not use Pan-Ophtal eye drops if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, in particular allergic reactions to the preservative cetrimide in the form of eyelid and contact eczema. Pan-Ophtal eye drops contain the preservative cetrimide, which can cause irritation of the eye (burning, redness, foreign body sensation), especially with frequent use, and can damage the corneal epithelium. Particularly sensitive patients who experience this irritation are advised to switch to preparations without preservatives.

Special care should be taken when using Pan-Ophtal eye drops

Contact lens wearers should not use Pan-Ophtal eye drops while wearing the lenses, as this could lead to incompatibilities with the lens material. In wearers of soft contact lenses, the preservative cetrimide can be deposited in the contact lenses and cause intolerance reactions. Therefore, all contact lenses should be removed before using Pan-Ophtal eye drops and can be reinserted about 15 minutes later.

When using Pan-Ophtal eye drops with other medicines

No specific interactions with other agents are known. Note: If additional treatment with other eye drops is required, there should be an interval of at least 15 minutes between the applications of the different medications. Pan-Ophtal eye drops should always be used last.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Since it is not known how much dexpanthenol is absorbed into the bloodstream after local application, the benefits of using Pan-Ophtal eye drops during pregnancy and breast-feeding should be carefully weighed against any possible risks. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using any medicine

Driving and using machines

Since this medicine can cause blurred vision for a few minutes after instillation into the conjunctival sac of the eye due to the formation of streaks, no machines should be operated, no work should be done without a secure hold, and no road traffic should be participated in during this time.

3. HOW SHOULD PAN-OPHTAL EYE DROPS BE USED?

Always use Pan-Ophtal eye drops exactly as described in this leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Type of application

For use on the eye.

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed, instill one drop into the conjunctival sac several times a day as needed.

Duration of use

The duration of treatment depends on the type and course of the disease.

What should be done if Pan-Ophtal eye drops have been used in excessive amounts (accidental or intentional overdose)?
Overdosing of Pan-Ophtal eye drops is not associated with any known risks. The therapeutic effect is not improved or worsened.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Eye disorders

Eye irritation, e.g. redness, pain, foreign body sensation, increased tearing, itching, conjunctival swelling.

Immune system

Very rare (less than 1 in 10,000 patients): Hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. itching, rash).

5. HOW SHOULD PAN-OPHTAL EYE DROPS BE STORED?

Keep out of reach of children! Do not use the medicine after the expiry date (see folding box and label). Do not store above + 25°C! The eye drops must not be used for more than 4 weeks after opening.

What do Pan-Ophtal eye drops contain?
Active ingredient: 1 ml of solution contains 50 mg of dexpanthenol. The other ingredients are: cetrimide; sodium edetate (Ph.Eur.); hypromellose; sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate (Ph.Eur.); sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate; water for injections.

Pharmaceutical form and contents

Packs of 10 ml and 3 x 10 ml eye drops.

Instructions for use

Take the opened dropper bottle in your hand and gently pull the lower eyelid down with the index finger of your other hand. With your head tilted back, bring the dropper tip close to the eye without touching it. By gently pressing the bottle, drop one drop into the conjunctival sac.
