Read the entire package leaflet carefully because it contains important information for you. This medicine is available without a prescription. However, Contramutan drops must be used as directed in order to achieve the best possible treatment results.

1. WHAT ARE CONTRAMUTAN DROPS AND WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR?

Contramutan drops are a homeopathic medicine for inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract. The areas of application are derived from the homeopathic medicinal product images. These include: Febrile, influenza-like infections with inflammation of the upper respiratory tract.

2. WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BEFORE TAKING CONTRAMUTAN DROPS?

Contramutan drops must not be used:

• if you are hypersensitive to any of the active or inactive ingredients or to members of the daisy family.
• for fundamental reasons in the case of progressive systemic diseases such as
  • tuberculosis,
  • leukaemia or leukaemia-like diseases (leukaemias),
  • inflammatory diseases of the connective tissue (collagenoses),
  • autoimmune diseases,
  • multiple sclerosis,
  • AIDS, HIV infection and other chronic viral diseases.
• in alcoholics.

Special care should be taken when taking Contramutan drops:

• because of the alcohol content, if you are an epileptic or suffer from liver disease, brain disease or brain damage,
• in the case of persistent symptoms, shortness of breath, fever that lasts for more than 3 days or rises above 39°C, or purulent or bloody sputum. In these cases, a doctor should be consulted.

Children

There is no sufficient documented experience with the use of this medicine in infants under 1 year of age. It should therefore not be used in infants under 1 year of age.

When taking Contramutan drops with other medicines

No interactions are known. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines.

General note

The effect of a homeopathic medicine can be adversely affected by generally harmful factors in the lifestyle and by stimulants and luxuries.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Contramutan drops should only be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding after consulting a doctor due to insufficient documented experience and the alcohol content.

Driving and operating machinery

No special precautions are required.

Important information about certain other ingredients of Contramutan drops

Contramutan drops contain 33.4% alcohol by volume. As a maximum daily dose according to the dosage instructions, adults are given up to 1.06 g of alcohol in the acute dosage and up to 0.26 g of alcohol in the chronic dosage. A health risk exists, among other things, for people with liver disease, alcoholics, epileptics, brain disease or brain damage, as well as for pregnant women.

3. HOW SHOULD CONTRAMUTANTROPS BE TAKEN?

Always take Contramutan drops exactly as described in this leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose for acute conditions is

When symptoms subside (subacute stage), the individual groups of people take the aforementioned single doses 1 to 3 times daily. Adults and children take the drops undiluted. Infants should take them diluted with sugar or with liquid (water, tea). Since the active ingredients of Contramutan drops are particularly well absorbed by the oral mucosa, the drops should be left in the mouth for a while before swallowing. Shake before use. Hold the bottle upright to remove. The duration of use depends on the therapeutic necessity or the duration of the illness. Due to the ingredient Echinacea, Contramutan drops should not be used for more than 2 weeks without medical advice. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Contramutan drops is too strong or too weak.

If you have taken more Contramutan drops than you should

Taking larger amounts of the medicine can lead to alcohol poisoning, especially in infants, which initially manifests itself in agitation, later in convulsions and unconsciousness; in this case there is a risk to life due to respiratory paralysis, which is why a doctor should be consulted immediately. If the entire contents of the bottle of 20 ml or 50 ml are ingested, approximately 5.3 g or 13.3 g of alcohol are ingested.

If you forget to take Contramutan drops

If you forget to take a dose of Contramutan drops, you should take it as soon as possible and then continue with the prescribed or recommended dosage.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, Contramutan drops can have side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The following frequency information is used to assess side effects:
Very common:	more than 1 in 10 treated persons
Common:	1 to 10 in 100 treated persons
Uncommon:	1 to 10 in 1,000 treated persons
Rare:	1 to 10 in 10,000 treated persons
Very rare:	less than 1 in 10,000 treated persons
Not known:	frequency cannot be estimated from the available data.

Significant side effects or signs to watch out for, and measures to take if you are affected

Hypersensitivity reactions can occur very rarely. Skin rash, itching, rarely facial swelling, shortness of breath, dizziness and a drop in blood pressure have been observed for medicines containing preparations made from coneflower (Echinacea). In these cases, you should stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor.

Note

When taking a homeopathic medicine, existing symptoms may temporarily worsen (initial aggravation). In this case, you should stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor.

5. HOW SHOULD CONTRAMUTAN DROPS BE STORED?

Keep out of reach of children! Do not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label and carton after "Use by". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month. Storage conditions: No special storage conditions are required for this medicine. Note on shelf life after opening: After opening the bottle, Contramutan drops can be stored for 6 months at room temperature. Please do not use the opened pack after this period.

What Contramutan drops contain

The active ingredients are: 10 g mixture contains: Eupatorium perfoliatum (waterweed) Ø 1 mg, Aconitum napellus Ø 1 mg, Atropa belladonna Ø 1 mg, Echinacea Ø 1g. The other ingredients are: Ethanol 94% (m/m), purified water.

Original pack with 20 ml mixture, original pack with 50 ml mixture.

General note

Due to the plant-based ingredients, the taste of Contramutan drops can vary slightly. These taste differences do not affect the therapeutic efficacy or the quality of the product. Occasional cloudiness or flocculation that occurs with natural products does not affect the effect.
