1. WHAT IS CONTRAMUTAN SYRUP AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Contramutan Syrup is a homeopathic medicine for colds. The areas of application are derived from the homeopathic medicinal product images. These include: feverish flu-like infections with inflammation of the upper respiratory tract.

2. WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BEFORE TAKING CONTRAMUTAN SYRUP?

Contramutan Syrup must not be taken if you are allergic to Eupatorium perfoliatum (water hemp), Aconitum Dil. D4, Belladonna Dil. D4, Echinacea, Compositae or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6. For fundamental reasons, Contramutan Syrup must not be taken in the case of progressive systemic diseases such as:

• Tuberculosis.
• Leukemia or leukemia-like diseases (leukoses) - connective tissue diseases (collagenoses) - autoimmune diseases - multiple sclerosis.
• AIDS, HIV infection and other chronic viral diseases.

Contramutan Syrup should not be used in alcoholics.

Warnings and precautions

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Contramutan Syrup. Due to the alcohol content, Contramutan Syrup should only be used in patients with liver disease, epileptics or patients with organic brain diseases after consulting a doctor. If symptoms persist, if you have shortness of breath, if you have a fever that lasts for more than 3 days or rises above 39°C, or if you have purulent sputum, you should see a doctor. There is no sufficient documented experience with the use of this medicine in infants under 1 year of age. It should therefore not be used in infants under 1 year of age.

Taking Contramutan Syrup with other medicines

No interactions are known. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used, or plan to take/use any other medicines. General note: The effect of a homeopathic medicine can be adversely affected by generally harmful factors in the lifestyle and by stimulants and luxuries.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

As there is no sufficient documented experience with the use during pregnancy and breast-feeding, the medicine should only be used after consulting your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant.

Driving and using machines

No special precautions are necessary.

Contramutan Syrup contains alcohol and sucrose

This medicine contains 3.7% alcohol by volume. Please only take Contramutan Syrup after consulting your doctor if you are known to be intolerant to certain sugars. 5 ml contains 4.2 g sucrose (sugar). If you are on a diabetic diet, you should take this into account. Contramutan Syrup can be harmful to teeth (caries).

3. HOW TO TAKE CONTRAMUTAN SYRUP?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this package leaflet or exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is

Age or (body weight)	Single dose	Total daily dose
Toddlers from 1 year to 6 years (approx. 8 - 19 kg)	2.5 ml every half to whole hour, maximum 12 times daily	30 ml
Children from 6 to 12 years (approx. 20 - 43 kg)	3.5 ml every half to whole hour, maximum 12 times daily	42 ml
Adolescents from 12 years and adults	5.0 ml every half to whole hour, maximum 12 times daily	60 ml

When symptoms subside (subacute stage), the individual groups of people take the aforementioned single doses 1 to 3 times daily. To measure the above-mentioned quantities, a dosing aid is enclosed in the pack. Since the active ingredients of Contramutan Syrup are particularly well absorbed by the oral mucosa, the liquid should be left in the mouth for a while before swallowing. The liquid is taken undiluted. The duration of use depends on the therapeutic necessity or the duration of the illness. Due to the component Echinacea, Contramutan Syrup should not be used for more than 2 weeks without medical advice.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Contramutan Syrup is too strong or too weak.

If you have taken more Contramutan Syrup than you should

Taking larger amounts of the medicine does not pose a health risk.

If you forget to take Contramutan8 Syrup

Do not take double the amount if you have forgotten the previous dose. If you have forgotten to take a dose, you should take it as soon as possible and then continue with the prescribed dosage.

If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Possible side effects

The frequency is not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): In individual cases, hypersensitivity reactions may occur. For medicines with preparations made from coneflower (Echinacea), skin rash, itching, rarely facial swelling, shortness of breath, dizziness and a drop in blood pressure have been observed. The medicine should then be discontinued and a doctor should be informed so that he can take the necessary measures. Note: When taking a homeopathic medicine, the existing symptoms may temporarily worsen (initial aggravation). In this case, you should stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor.

5. HOW TO STORE CONTRAMUTAN SYRUP?

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label and carton after "Use by:". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.

Note on shelf life after opening

After opening the bottle, Contramutan Syrup can be kept for 14 days.

6. CONTENTS OF THE PACK AND OTHER INFORMATION

What Contramutan Syrup contains

The active ingredients in 100 g mixture (corresponding to 76.63 ml) are: Eupatorium perfoliatum (water hemp) Ø 0.0045 g, Aconitum Dil. D4 0.009 g, Belladonna Dil. D4 0.009 g, Echinacea Ø 4.5 g. The other ingredients are: Sucrose (saccharose), purified water.
