1. WHAT IS THIS MEDICINE AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Dandelion is a herbal medicine for digestive problems. This herbal tea is used for disorders of the bile flow with digestive problems such as flatulence and a feeling of fullness as well as loss of appetite. Note: If symptoms persist for more than a week or recur periodically, a doctor should be consulted.

2. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE?

This medicine must not be used:
  • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to dandelion,
  • in case of obstruction of the bile ducts,
  • intestinal obstruction and
  • gallbladder inflammation.
Use only after consulting a doctor in case of gallstone disease.

Special care must be taken when using this medicine if the symptoms described in section 1 worsen. In this case, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Tea infusions should always be prepared with boiling water. Preparing tea with warm water is not sufficient.

Children

There is no evidence of risks from the widespread use of dandelion as a medicine or in food. However, there are no adequate studies on the use of dandelion in children under 12 years of age. Drinking tea infusions made from dandelion is therefore not recommended for this group of people.

When using this medicine with other medicines

Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines. No interactions are known.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

There is no evidence of risks from the widespread use of dandelion as a medicine or in food. However, there are no adequate studies on the use of dandelion during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Drinking tea infusions made from dandelion is therefore not recommended for this group of people. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using any medicine.

Driving and using machines

There is no experience with regard to impairment of driving ability and the ability to operate machines.

3. HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE?

Always take Dandelion exactly as described in this package leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Dosage and type of application

Unless otherwise prescribed, half a cup of the tea infusion prepared as follows is drunk 2 to 3 times a day to stimulate appetite half an hour before meals, otherwise after meals: 1 tablespoon (approx. 2.5 g) of dandelion is poured over with boiling water (approx. 150 ml) and after about 10 to 15 minutes passed through a tea strainer.

Duration of use

If symptoms persist for more than 1 week or recur periodically, a doctor should be consulted.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Dandelion is too strong or too weak.

If you have used more of the medicine than you should

If symptoms occur due to the higher dose, please notify your doctor. He or she can decide on any necessary measures. The side effects listed under side effects may occur more frequently.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, Dandelion can have side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The following frequency information is used to assess side effects:
Very common: more than 1 in 10 treated persons
Common: 1 to 10 in 100 treated persons
Uncommon: 1 to 10 in 1,000 treated persons
Rare: 1 to 10 in 10,000 treated persons
Very rare: less than 1 in 10,000 treated persons
Not known: frequency cannot be estimated from the available data.


Possible side effects

As with all bitter substances, symptoms can occur due to excessive acidity of the gastric juice. In rare cases, itching and skin redness may occur in case of hypersensitivity to dandelion.

Special notes

If these side effects occur, the medicine should no longer be used.

5. HOW TO STORE THIS MEDICINE?

General notes

Keep medicines out of the reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after "Use by". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.

Storage conditions

Store in the original package and protect from light and moisture. Do not store above 25°C.
