1. WHAT ARE GINKGO SYXYL TABLETS AND WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR?

2. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO CONSIDER BEFORE TAKING GINKGO SYXYL TABLETS?

Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets must not be taken:

• if you are known to be hypersensitive to Ginkgo biloba.
• during pregnancy.
• by children under 6 years of age.

Special care must be taken when taking Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets

Breastfeeding

Since there is insufficient documented experience with use during breastfeeding, the medicine should not be used during breastfeeding.

Children

There is insufficient documented experience with the use of this medicine in children and adolescents. It should therefore not be used in children aged 6 to 18 years.

The following precautions have been derived from reports on herbal extracts from Ginkgo biloba

Patients with a pathological tendency to bleed (haemorrhagic diathesis) and concomitant use of anticoagulants (e.g. phenprocoumon) and drugs that inhibit platelet aggregation (thrombocyte aggregation inhibitors, e.g. ASA) should only use Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets after consulting a doctor. Preparations made from Ginkgo can lead to an increase in the tendency to bleed, so Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets should be stopped as a precaution 3 to 4 days before an operation. In patients with epilepsy, it cannot be ruled out that taking Ginkgo preparations may promote the occurrence of further seizures. The concomitant use of Ginkgo biloba-containing products and efavirenz is not recommended.

Interactions with other medicines

The following interactions have been reported for herbal extracts from Ginkgo biloba

If the medicine Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets is used at the same time as anticoagulants (e.g. phenprocoumon and warfarin) and drugs that inhibit platelet aggregation (thrombocyte aggregation inhibitors, e.g. clopidogrel, acetylsalicylic acid and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs [e.g. ibuprofen, diclofenac]), their effect may be influenced. Caution is advised when taking Ginkgo biloba with warfarin, dabigatran or nifedipine (increased concentration of the active substance in the blood). The concomitant use of Ginkgo biloba preparations and efavirenz is not recommended (decreased concentration of efavirenz in the blood). Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using or have recently taken/used any other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines.

When taking Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets with food and drink

There are no special precautions to be taken. General note: The effect of a homeopathic medicine can be adversely affected by generally harmful factors in the lifestyle and by stimulants and luxuries.

Driving and using machines

No special precautions are required.

Important information about certain other ingredients of Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets

This medicine contains milk sugar (lactose). Please only take Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from an intolerance to certain sugars. This medicine is not suitable for patients with the rare hereditary galactose intolerance (galactose intolerance), a genetic lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption (impaired absorption of glucose and galactose into the bloodstream) due to its lactose (milk sugar) content.

3. HOW TO TAKE GINKGO SYXYL TABLETS?

Always take Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets exactly as described in this leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. If the symptoms improve, the frequency of use should be reduced.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets is too strong or too weak.

How long should you take Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets?
General note: Even homeopathic medicines should not be taken for long periods of time without medical advice.

If you have taken more Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets than you should

Acute poisoning by Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets has not been reported in humans to date. Please continue treatment at the next dose with the usual dose.

If you forget to take Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets

Do not take double the dose if you have forgotten the previous dose, but continue taking Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets with the usual dose.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Side effects

The following side effects have been reported for herbal extracts from Ginkgo biloba:

• Bleeding in various organs (eyes, nose, brain and gastrointestinal bleeding).
• Headaches and dizziness.
• Diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.
• Hypersensitivity (allergic shock).
• allergic skin reactions (redness, swelling, itching and rash).

Note: When taking a homeopathic medicine, the existing symptoms may temporarily worsen (initial aggravation). In this case, you should stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor.

5. HOW TO STORE GINKGO SYXYL TABLETS?

Keep out of reach of children! Always store Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets in the outer carton and not above 25°C. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the outer carton and blister strip.

Composition

Active ingredient: Ginkgo biloba e foliis sicc. Trit. D4 [HAB, regulation 4a, 0 with ethanol 62% (m/m)]. 1 tablet contains 100 mg. Other ingredients: magnesium stearate, potato starch.

Ginkgo Syxyl Tablets are available in the original pack of 120 tablets.
