When should Thealoz Duo Gel be used

Thealoz Duo Gel is a liquid gel for application to the eye, during the day and also at night. Thealoz Duo Gel is recommended for the treatment of moderate to severe symptoms of dry eyes (discomfort, stinging, burning) due to external influences such as wind, smoke, air pollution, dust, strong sunlight, heat, cold, air conditioning and air travel or prolonged screen work. Thealoz Duo Gel is unpreserved and protects the eyes from irritation and allergic reactions that can be caused by preservatives. Unpreserved eye drops are particularly recommended for patients with sensitive eyes and for long-term use.

Properties

Thealoz Duo Gel is a sterile, unpreserved, hypotonic and pH-neutral liquid gel. The main ingredients are trehalose, a natural substance found in many plants and animals, hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the eye, and carbomer (Carbopol 974P), which ensures good adhesion to the surface of the eye and thus long-lasting moisturisation. Trehalose has very good antioxidant, moisturising and protective properties. It is an essential element of the anhydrobiotic mechanisms observed in many microorganisms (a slowed-down metabolism enables them to survive even extreme dryness). In addition, trehalose protects and stabilises cell membranes. Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide that occurs naturally in the human eye and has exceptional moisture-binding properties, ensuring long-lasting moisturisation of the eye's surface. It adheres well to the surface of the eye and thus provides long-lasting relief from the symptoms of dry eyes and rapid regeneration of damaged corneal tissue. Carbomer ensures that Thealoz Duo Gel adheres particularly well to the surface of the eye and provides long-lasting relief from the symptoms of dry eyes. The special combination of trehalose, hyaluronic acid and carbomer gives Thealoz Duo Gel long-lasting, intensive moisturisation of the eyes, effective protection of the eye's surface and maximum comfort.

Special warnings and precautions for use:

• do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients,
• avoid any contact between the tip of the ampoule and the eye,
• do not inject or ingest the eye drops,
• do not use damaged single-dose ampoules.

Keep out of reach of children.

Interactions

If you are using other eye drops, you should allow at least 15 minutes between applications. Use Thealoz Duo Gel last.

How to use Thealoz Duo Gel - Instructions for use

For instillation into the eye.

• Wash your hands thoroughly before use.
• Detach 1 ampoule from the strip.
• Turn the ampoule upside down and tap it gently.
• Open the ampoule and squeeze it gently.
• Apply one drop to the conjunctival sac by gently pulling down the lower eyelid and looking upwards.
• Dispose of the ampoule immediately after use, even if it still contains some solution.

If you wear contact lenses, you must remove them before using Thealoz Duo Gel. Do not reinsert the contact lenses until at least 30 minutes after using Thealoz Duo Gel.

Dosage

1 drop in each eye, 1 - 4 times a day. Gel formulations are particularly suitable for use in the evening, shortly before going to bed.

Undesirable side effects

In rare cases, mild eye irritation may occur.

Storage

Store the single-dose ampoules in the original packaging to protect the contents from direct light. Do not store above 25°C. Do not use this product after the expiry date clearly stated on the packaging. The expiry date applies to the product stored correctly in the unopened packaging. Do not use damaged ampoules. Opened ampoules should be disposed of properly immediately after use.

Composition

Trehalose 3 g, sodium hyaluronate 0.15 g, carbomer (Carbopol 974P) 0.25 g, sorbitol, sodium hydroxide, water for injections q.s. ad. 100 g.
