Read all of this leaflet carefully because it contains important information for you. This medicine is available without prescription. However, to achieve the best possible treatment results, Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges must be used as directed.

1. WHAT ARE BRONCHIPRET THYME LOZENGES AND WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR?

Herbal medicinal product for colds of the respiratory tract. For the improvement of symptoms in colds of the respiratory tract with viscous mucus and in complaints of bronchitis.

2. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE TAKING BRONCHIPRET THYME LOZENGES?

Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to thyme or other labiates (Lamiaceae), birch, mugwort, celery or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (other ingredients see section 6 Further information).

Special care must be taken when taking Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges

If symptoms persist for more than 1 week or if shortness of breath, fever, purulent or bloody sputum occur, a doctor should be consulted immediately.

Children

There are no sufficient studies on the use in children under 6 years of age. Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges should therefore not be used in children under 6 years of age.

Elderly people

There are no known restrictions for elderly people.

When taking Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges with other medicines

There are no studies on possible interactions. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using or have recently taken/used other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines.

When taking Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges with food and drink

There are no known interactions between Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges and stimulants, food or beverages.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

There have been no indications of risks during pregnancy and breast-feeding from widespread use as a foodstuff. However, there are no sufficient studies on the use of Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Use is therefore not recommended. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using any medicine during pregnancy or breast-feeding.

Driving and using machines

There are no known restrictions for preparations containing thyme.

Important information about certain other ingredients of Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges

This medicine contains 0.376 g maltitol and 0.009 g glucose syrup per lozenge. Please only take Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from an intolerance to certain sugars.

3. HOW TO TAKE BRONCHIPRET THYME LOZENGES?

Always take Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges exactly as described in this leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is: Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age take 3 - 4 lozenges 3 - 4 times a day. Children from 6 - 11 years of age take 2 - 3 lozenges 4 times a day.

Method of administration

The lozenges should be sucked (not chewed) if possible so that the active ingredients can already develop in the throat area.

Duration of use

The use is not limited in time. However, please always observe the information under "Special care must be taken when taking Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges" and under "What side effects are possible".

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges is too strong or too weak.

If you have taken more Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges than you should

If you have accidentally taken one or two more individual doses than intended, this will generally have no adverse consequences. If you take significantly more than this, please inform your doctor. He/she can decide on any necessary measures. The side effects listed below may occur more frequently.

If you forget to take Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges

If you have taken too little Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges or have forgotten to take Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges, do not take twice the amount the next time, but continue taking as prescribed by your doctor or as described in the package leaflet.

If you stop taking Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges

Discontinuing Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges is generally harmless.

If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges can have side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The following frequency information is used to assess side effects:
Very common:	more than 1 in 10 treated persons
Common:	1 to 10 in 100 treated persons
Uncommon:	1 to 10 in 1,000 treated persons
Rare:	1 to 10 in 10,000 treated persons
Very rare:	less than 1 in 10,000 treated persons
Not known:	frequency cannot be estimated from the available data.

Hypersensitivity reactions or allergic reactions of the skin and respiratory tract, such as shortness of breath, skin rashes, hives and swelling of the face, mouth and/or throat (Quincke's edema), may occur. Gastrointestinal complaints, such as cramps, nausea, vomiting, may also occur. The frequency of side effects is not known. If you experience any of the above side effects, especially swelling of the face, mouth and/or throat or allergic reactions of the respiratory tract, discontinue Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges and seek medical attention immediately so that the doctor can decide on the severity and any necessary measures. Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges must not be taken again at the first signs of a hypersensitivity reaction.

Reporting of side effects

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects not listed in this package leaflet. You can also report side effects directly to the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices, Dept. of Pharmacovigilance, Kurt-Georg-Kiesinger-Allee 3, D-53175 Bonn, website: www.bfarm.de. By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.

5. HOW TO STORE BRONCHIPRET THYME LOZENGES?

Keep out of reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and on the foils. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month. Storage conditions: No special storage conditions are required for this medicine.

What Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges contain

The active ingredient is: 1 lozenge contains: 42.0 mg thyme herb dry extract (6-10 : 1); Extraction solvent: Ethanol 70% (V/V). The other ingredients are: Gum arabic, betadex, liquid paraffin, blackcurrant flavor, wild berry flavor, bleached wax, glucose syrup, maltitol solution, sodium cyclamate, saccharin sodium, highly dispersed silicon dioxide.

Note for diabetics

One Bronchipret Thyme Lozenge contains approx. 0.045 creditable bread units (BE).

What Bronchipret Thyme Lozenges look like and contents of the pack

Packs of 20 (non-saleable sample), 30 and 50 (N2) lozenges. Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
