1. WHAT IS SILICA GEL F AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Silica Gel F is a traditional medicinal product. Areas of application: Traditionally used: internally for the prevention of brittle fingernails and hair, for strengthening the connective tissue; externally for circumscribed local irritation of the skin. This information is based solely on tradition and many years of experience.

2. WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BEFORE TAKING/USING SILICA GEL F?

Silica Gel F must not be taken/used if you are allergic to silicon dioxide.

Warnings and precautions

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking/using Silica Gel F.

Children and adolescents

This medicine is not suitable for use in children and adolescents, as its safety and efficacy in children and adolescents have not been proven.

Taking/using Silica Gel F together with other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using this medicine.

Driving and using machines

No impairments are known.

3. HOW TO TAKE/USE SILICA GEL F?

Always take/use this medicine exactly as described in this package leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Internally for the prevention of brittle fingernails and hair and for strengthening the connective tissue

The recommended dose is 15 ml daily (equivalent to 1 measuring spoon).

Type of use

Take diluted with water or mineral water between meals. Shake before use.

Duration of use

The duration of use is in principle not limited, but please note the information in section »1. What is Silica Gel F and what is it used for?" on the areas of application as well as the information below on misuse and overdose.

Externally for circumscribed local irritation

You should dab the affected areas with Silica Gel F or apply it diluted 1:4 with water and possibly cover it with a damp gauze strip. If used undiluted, you should wash the affected area before each new application.

If you have taken/used more Silica Gel F than you should

In the case of long-term and high-dose intake of preparations containing silicon dioxide, the formation of silicon-containing kidney stones is very rarely possible.

If you forget to take/use Silica Gel F

Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

If you stop taking/using Silica Gel F

An interruption or premature termination of treatment is usually harmless.

If you have any further questions about the use of the medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

No side effects have been observed to date.

If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects not listed in this package leaflet. 5. HOW TO STORE SILICA GEL F?

Keep medicines out of the reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton or label after "Use by". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month. Storage conditions: Do not store above 25°C. Protect from frost. Shelf life after opening: After opening the bottle, please store the medicine in the refrigerator (4°C - 8°C) and use within 4 weeks!

What Silica Gel F contains

The active ingredient is: silica gel with precipitated, dispersed colloidal silicon dioxide. 100 ml gel contains 100 ml silica gel with 2.8 g precipitated, dispersed colloidal silica anhydride (silicon dioxide).

What Silica Gel F looks like and contents of the pack

Silica Gel F is a white, homogeneous, colloidal gel in plastic bottles. Silica Gel F is available in packs of 200 ml/420 ml/500 ml gel. Not all pack sizes may be marketed. The enclosed dosing aid is a certified medical device.
