1. WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR

The medicinal tea Milk Thistle Fruits is a herbal gastrointestinal remedy. This medicinal tea is used for digestive complaints, especially functional disorders of the efferent biliary system.

2. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU USE THIS MEDICINE

This medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to milk thistle fruits or other plants of the Asteraceae (daisy) family. Special care is required when using this medicine if the symptoms described in Chapter 1 become more severe. In this case, consult your doctor or pharmacist. In case of jaundice or unusual discoloration of urine or stool, a doctor must be consulted. Tea infusions should always be prepared with boiling water. Preparing tea with warm water is not sufficient.

Children and adolescents

Use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age should only be done after consultation with a doctor, in order to exclude other underlying diseases if necessary.

Using this medicine with other medicines

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using or have recently taken/used any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. No interactions are known.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

There are insufficient studies on the use of milk thistle fruits during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Therefore, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this tea during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Driving and using machines

There is no experience regarding the impairment of the ability to drive and use machines.

3. HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE

Always take milk thistle fruits exactly as described in this leaflet. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Dosage and method of administration

Unless otherwise prescribed, drink 1 cup of the tea infusion prepared as follows 3 to 4 times daily: Pour boiling water (approx. 150 ml) over 2 infusion bags of milk thistle fruits and let it steep for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Duration of use

In case of acute symptoms that last longer than 1 week or recur periodically, consultation with a doctor is recommended.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of milk thistle fruits is too strong or too weak.

If you have used a larger amount of the medicine

than you should

If symptoms occur due to the higher dose, please inform your doctor. They can decide on any necessary measures. The side effects listed under side effects may occur more severely.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like all medicines, milk thistle fruits can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Possible side effects

Mild gastrointestinal complaints, headache, or allergic reactions have been observed. The frequency is not known.

5. HOW TO STORE THIS MEDICINE

General information

Keep medicines out of the reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after "Expiry date" or "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

Storage conditions

Store in the original packaging in order to protect from light and moisture. Do not store above 25°C.

What this medicine contains

1 infusion bag (= 1.7 g) of medicinal tea contains the active substance: 1.7 g of milk thistle fruits. No other ingredients are contained.

What the medicine looks like and contents of the pack
Milk thistle fruits are available in the following pack sizes: 275 g of medicinal tea in a carton and 34 g of medicinal tea containing 1.7 g each (20 infusion bags).
