What is Hylo Night?
Hylo Night is a sterile eye ointment containing vitamin A for use on the eye.

Composition

1 g Hylo Night contains 250 IU retinol palmitate (vitamin A), heavy liquid paraffin, light liquid paraffin, wool fat and white petroleum jelly. One tube contains 5 g.

What is Hylo Night used for?
Hylo Night improves the tear film and protects the ocular surface. Hylo Night is a particularly soft and smooth eye ointment that spreads very well on the ocular surface. The vitamin A it contains is a natural component of the tear film, which supports the good tolerability of the ointment and ensures that the ointment mixes well with the existing tears. This relieves the feeling of burning, dry or tired eyes. The eyelids glide smoothly over the cornea and conjunctiva.

When should Hylo Night be used?
Under the influence of air conditioning, e.g. in cars or aeroplanes, wind, cold, strong sunlight, poor air or cigarette smoke, burning or itchy eyes with a feeling of dryness or foreign body sensation often occur. These symptoms can also occur due to concentrated vision, e.g. during prolonged work at a computer screen, watching television or driving at night. If contact lenses are also worn, the risk of these symptoms is even greater. Hylo Night relieves these symptoms and forms a pleasant, long-lasting protective film on the eyes. The ointment's high fat content leads to a slight impairment of vision. Therefore, Hylo Night should be used primarily before going to bed. Any discomfort when first opening the eyes in the morning can be prevented with Hylo Night.

How is Hylo Night used?
Eye ointments should always be used in such a way that contact between the tip of the tube and the eye or facial skin is avoided. Only use Hylo Night if the seal of the folding box was intact before first use. Unscrew the cap of the tube. Tilt your head back slightly, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye a little with the finger of one hand. Hold the tube in an upright position over the eye with the other hand. Apply a small strand of ointment into the conjunctival sac by gently squeezing the tube. Close your eyelids slowly. After use, the tube should be closed carefully again.

What other instructions for use should be observed?
If you use Hylo Night during the day, you will not be able to see completely clearly for a while due to the high fat content of the ointment. You should then not drive a car, actively participate in road traffic, operate machinery or perform work without a secure hold. Hylo Night should not be used at the same time as ophthalmic medicines. In these cases, administer Hylo Night only about 30 minutes after using the ophthalmic medicines. Please remove the eye ointment by gently squeezing the tube without kinking or rolling it up. Based on the available findings, Hylo Night can also be used in children, pregnant and breastfeeding women. The contents of one tube of Hylo Night should always be used by the same person. In very rare individual cases, hypersensitivity reactions of the eyes (e.g. redness, burning, itching, tearing) have been reported, which subsided immediately after discontinuation of Hylo Night.

How often and for how long should Hylo Night be used?
The frequency of use depends on your individual symptoms and lifestyle. Hylo Night can supplement the use of moisturising eye drops and is then used once a day before going to bed. In case of pronounced dryness of the eyes, Hylo Night is usually used three times a day. If you feel that you need to use Hylo Night more often, consult an ophthalmologist for advice. There is no restriction on the duration of use.

When should Hylo Night not be used?
Hylo Night should not be used if there is a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Hylo Night must not be administered while wearing contact lenses. Hylo Night should not be used immediately after surgical procedures on the eye or in the case of acute eye injuries, as no clinical studies have been conducted on this.

What instructions should be observed for storing Hylo Night?
Do not store above 25°C. Hylo Night can be used for 6 months after opening. Hylo Night should not be used after the expiry date. Keep Hylo Night out of the reach of children.
