Application area

As a daily local, external protection for the entire intimate area (external female and male genitals, perineum and anal area). For the relief of discomfort of the skin of the external intimate area such as:

• Skin irritation with e.g. burning, itching.
• Redness and swelling.
• Skin damage.
• Dryness (e.g. after radiation treatment and during menopause).
• Soreness in the anal area, especially with diarrhoea, rhagades and haemorrhoids.
• As a lubricant, especially for the prevention of lesions and irritation during sexual contact.

Deumavan Protective Ointment is a water-free ointment for the daily local application of the external intimate area (labia, perineum and anal area). It is used to relieve discomfort such as skin irritation (with e.g. burning, itching, redness and swelling), skin damage, dryness (with hormone deficiency, e.g. during menopause), after radiation treatment, soreness in the anal area, especially with diarrhoea and rhagades and as a lubricant. In the entire intimate area, the skin is stressed by mechanical stress such as walking, sitting, cycling, sports activities and sexual contact. Urine, bowel movements and wearing diapers also stress the skin in the intimate area. Cleaning with soap or even just with water damages and degreases the top layer of the skin - the so-called horny layer. It becomes drier, more sensitive and more vulnerable. The skin also becomes thinner and less robust due to the decline in hormone production. All this can lead to painful skin damage, which can be entry points for pathogens.

How does Deumavan work?
Deumavan Protective Ointment improves the smoothness of the skin (horny layer) through a thin layer of fat (mixture of highly purified paraffins). It contains no pharmacologically active substances (stabilisers/emulsifiers or preservatives) or hormones. Deumavan Protective Ointment Natural without fragrances is also free of allergic potential. The therapeutic effect is based on the improvement of the smoothness of the top layer of the skin - horny layer - and the reduction of transepidermal water loss. This complements the natural sebum production. The barrier function of the skin is not impaired by the ointment protective film, but skin lesions, which are entry points for germs, are covered and new ones are largely prevented. Therefore, Deumavan is also suitable for wound care. The application of Deumavan Protective Ointment before bowel movements reduces the adhesion of intestinal bacteria, which consist of up to 50% microorganisms, to the skin around the anus. This makes cleaning easier without causing painful damage. In addition, fewer intestinal germs enter the vagina or bladder.

The frequency and duration of use depend on the need. Multiple daily applications of Deumavan Protective Ointment, also as a preventive measure, are recommended:

• as a preventive and sustainable protection before and after mechanical stress,
• after washing,
• before and after bowel movements and urination,
• before and after exercise,
• before and after sexual contact,
• as a supportive measure for skin changes.

Incompatibilities

Known hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the ingredients.

Precautions and warnings

Keep out of reach of children. Do not use latex condoms (use polyurethane or AT-10 [resin-based] instead). Use only until the expiry date printed on the container and folding box. Do not use on the breast area of nursing mothers. If the package is damaged, do not use the product and inform the manufacturer. In case of undesirable effects, discontinue use of the product and consult a doctor. Do not use if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients. Do not use the product in the eyes. The application must only be carried out according to the intended use.
